Lowers the cost of rare earth metals so companies like Apple that use copper and nickel exorbitantly in the manufacturing process make more money

Also reduces dependency on a sector that the ccp has a monopoly on for the future

Rite Aid near me has a sign that says they will pay you extra if you turn in coins, think it was 5% or so; not much worth it for the hand full of coins in my cup holder.

Trying to get people to panic that their coins won’t be able to be used soon and turn then in/get them used to not carrying coins around with them.... Which will speed up the process of a converting to a cashless society where every transaction is traceable.

But if you really think about it, it makes sense. It's way more expensive to deal in cash than by cards.

Like going paperless. Consider how much consumers saved large corporations millions by going paperless. But did we ever see the savings for saving them money? Nope.

Remember when airlines gave you free baggage check and a decent meal on flights? And now you pay for everything and at a premium for those crappy bag of mixed pretzels.

People screamin about cashless society... It's a coin shortage, not a cash shortage. I tell them to keep the change because it just ends up in the cracks of my car seat anyways.

Saw it happen twice to people in line in front of me. To be fair - the restaurants had a giant sign right where you order saying "NO CASH". People are just oblivious to their surroundings. Lots of rage ensued.

Get rid of a majority of the coins srs, they are useless in society and are a pain in the ass. I would eliminate nickels and pennies. I would keep the dime, quarter, half dollar, and dollar coins. It costs more money to make a nickel and penny, compared to what it's actually worth. 7 cents to make a nickel and 2 cents to make a penny. All purchases should be in increments of 10 cents to make it easier.

I rarely hold cash on my person because I use my card for everything, it doesn't make any sense not to use it. I get money back on every purchase I make, which is more than I would make if I was to just use cash. Banking is largely online nowadays, and now that I think about it, crypto makes sense since eventually I'd imagine they'd phase out physical forms of currency. Money is now traded over computers and the internet. I still have about $1,000 in physical cash in a personal safe, and you have FDIC insured accounts up to $250,000. People with over that amount get multiple accounts to have their money insured.

When I was in Canada they had just gotten rid of the penny and it was so much easier. Purchases were rounded up or down to the nearest nickel for payment. The reason they got rid of it was for the same reason as I described before, it cost more to make then it was worth. Either get rid of all coins that meet these parameters, or change the metallic composition to where it becomes cheaper. Then most people pretty much lose their coins all the time by misplacing them, or just throwing them out. It's so much easier to just have it be on your card and have that money secured in your account. I think one bank automatically rounded your purchases up to the nearest dollar, and then the rounded up money would get automatically deposited into your bank account. So instead of getting coins back like cash which you could lose, it went digitally to your FDIC insured bank.

Things are really starting to get "real".
I mean, the most common method of money transfer today can be shut off easily. After the industrial revolution, labor has no longer been the primary source of generating revenue with the advent of market speculation. For all intensive purposes, today’s money is completely made up anyway. I honestly don’t see how the concept of cashless, or simply changing numbers on a computer, could have any more of a significant impact beyond what we have today.

The made up money we earn is legally ours (whether an individual, business, ex wife alimony, whatever).

I need to watch the video and do a little more research.

I mean, is there any serious legislation being debated or written up for approval in the government that supports this idea.

I acknowledge the federal reserve is a private entity, and not a government organization.

Side note, In the constitution, the power of the purse is explicitly given to congress. Explicit powers cannot be delegated. The federal reserve is categorically unconstitutional. Of course JFK was suicided about a short while after saying this out loud.
