Canada Moving Toward Decriminalizing All Simple Drug Possession

I had no idea this was even happening, this is a pretty big deal for something that has just quietly passed through
Federal lawyers are being asked to avoid prosecuting simple drug possession cases unless major public safety concerns are at play — a move that comes amid a push on the federal government to reconsider decriminalization.

The directive, which was issued earlier this week, revises the Public Prosecution Service of Canada's (PPSC) approach to simple possession offences under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

this all about the opioids in the province of British Columbia .... this will not happen in other provinces and certainly not federally. It's a waste of time to process all these losers and spend all that money and energy, only to have them back on the street

they should have fentnyl dispensers of every street corner to get rid of the useless weak people
I don't necessarily agree with everything I say.

one of the things I adamantly agree with is legalizing personal drug use(not trafficking, still 5+ years in jail)

it's insane to me if I get caught with substances at a festival my career could be in jeopardy and id be paying 5k+ in fines, absolutely insane

Nobody’s life should be ruined for possessing a personal use amount of drugs. So ridiculous that people believe the government should be able to tell you what you can and can not put in your own body, lol at the cucks who agree with that

Brb if you posses a .01 gram bag of that powder that makes you feel happy and energized for 20 mins then here’s a felony, enjoy your life being ruined and losing most of your rights, and actually losing a lot of your ability to be a functional member of society due to your felony

If you agree with the war on drugs you’re a fukking retard

Defund the police isn't gaining any traction, so just demoralize them by making them waste their time.

Why set criminals free when you can just change the ****ing laws so it's not a crime? Oh yeah, because that requires parliament, which is currently shut down to stop the investigation of that little billion dollar corruption scandal.

Well it's been proven in studies that education and rehab facilities are not only more effective, but they're cheaper in the long run. Let's face it, cops should have better things to do anyways.

It's more humane. Drug use should be an individual right. If you can't handle your chit, then you go to rehab. It's not only worked decriminalizing drugs in Portugal, but the deaths from OD decreased. It's also safer so you know the dose you're getting. Not many people care or have empathy for people that can't control a habit or escape from their situation. Plenty of drug/alcohol users could use some guidance in this world.
