Shack in Toronto gets put up for 1m, sells for 1.8m

Without immigration, Canada's population would be declining, would house prices still be up this much? How can a salary person afford houses at these prices? There going up like 8-10% a year, doubt salaries are going up that much, even if you were to save a % every year, that % gets canceled out by those prices increasing.

I saw a sign in Aurora...townhouse for 800K. that's a 90 minute rush hour commute to downtown Toronto for the unaware.

even Brampton and north Oshawa are like this. There are people living around Barrie and outside Lindsay who drive down to the GTA for work because that's the only place a normal wagie can afford a mortgage (and all your neighbours are white hehe).

for those who think only the Chinese can afford these prices, that's not completely true. Cost of land in some parts of India and the subcontinent have skyrocketed in the last few decades, people who owned small farms or a bungalow on the outskirts of a major city have become millionaires. They're waging here on 60K/yr, dual income, living in some roach-infested high rise, then they sell that piece of land they were holding onto since the 80's, now they have a few hundred g's cdn.

Housing is so expensive because:

1) Money laundering is rampant in Canada because of clown government policies, pussy whipped progressives being *******s as usual and criminal money pouring in from China, US and abroad.
2) Rich mainland chinese who made their wealth running slave factories during China's bull run trying to escape chinese government controls/corruption charges.
3) People being too retarded to see any of the above and still voting for the same cucks in power over and over again as long as they get free weed and CERB money.
4) It's Canada, the currency is like toilet paper anyways so when foreigners bring in massive amounts of USD/EUR, they can act as pimps.
5) The avg canadian is in deeper debt than the avg american.

Oh and add the 50 IQ avg for the population and you got the recipe for disaster.

Unlike in America, there are very few cities and towns in Canada that are worth living in that isn't some poverty town from the 1960s. And housing in those cities and towns are very expensive. Even in the surrounding towns and cities it's expensive. Housing in downtown toronto is pretty much a write off unless you are on dat dere CEO 10K a day. The average house I think is like a million in the city of Toronto.

In the surrounding areas, the absolute minimum you need to buy a house is about 700K, on average maybe around 800-850K. That's a 200K down payment at least. Lol @ most young people being able to afford this. For apartments the bare minimum is 400K where I would say the average for a decent one is around 500-600K. There aren't really any jobs outside these areas so living outside of these areas aren't really an option for most people. It's really phucked if you think about it. Even Barrie is getting more and more expensive, but only white people live there and it is right on the snowbelt which makes commuting in the winter a nightmare. Lindsay and the surrounding area is an absolute chithole srs.

fuking lol at an average detached home in 2000 being around $250,000. Here we are in 2020 and the average is 1.1 million. Absolutely pissening. Millenials on suicide watch and forever rentcels. Half of these homes aren't even occupied and are just held as investments.

Honestly I hope with this whole coronavirus thing that working from home becomes a thing for more people so they don't have to worry about killing themselves with 90 minute commutes one way. My work is 50-60 minutes one way and I already want to kill myself. But I've been working from home and traffic is lighter so it's all good. Traffic and our road infrastructure, as well as transit is a whole other issue itself so I don't even want to get started on that lol.

i have a coworker who lives in Peterborough.

even in the kitchener-waterloo region, anyone who bought a house (mortgage) recently is living in a farm town 45+ minutes out.

maritimes have almost no jobs except for some tech that pays chit. quebec is french. northern ontario, manitoba, sask are dead. can't afford a house in BC. and oil and gas is dying in AB.

so where do i move? everyone's moving here.

Fair enough but please tell us about these magical areas outside of the GTA where jobs are plenty, cost is low and you aren't living in the phucking woods, you're being rather vague. Sometimes things change so fast in the economy and overall circumstances it's hard to really know what you should and shouldn't pursue as an occupation. wasn't really whining more but more so commenting on how absurd it has gotten.

Go share an igloo with the natives up there. Was that stat about 40% of apartments/houses not being occupied or not having their owners living there? If the first one, wouldn't that increase the demand for people needing housing even more and thus help keep the prices increasing?

I've also went to many other interesting places including Emo, Fort Frances, Warren and probably most interesting Rainy River. I don't think you can even access it by car had to take a plane (srs), could be wrong tho but a whole lot of nothing.

That 37-40% being unoccupied or without owner was for the houses/apartments in gta or just in general not for the area you posted cause i seen that stat thrown around earlier.

So glad I don't live in Canada, this sounds horrible. You guys don't even have nice weather and palm trees, no offence.

I was getting pissed looking at housing prices around $300k, I can't imagine $1 million+. Ridiculous.

They're famous for being the most cold tolerant trunking palm in the world, though technically you are right, since they will grow in the relatively mild climate of western coastal Canada. They're one of the only palms that don't need prolonged summer heat to grow, and they can even survive in southern coastal Alaska.
