Spot on srs. Robbie's original vision of what bodybuilding is supposed to be is what drew me in to the sport. It's supposed to be beautiful, to represent actually taking care of yourself and being healthy to the highest degree. The ubermench

Bodybuilding has evolved since his era. The simple truth is, if he were in his prime right now, he wouldn't even qualify as an open bodybuilder. Obviously when your considered a bodybuilding great from the golden era you have to cope with the fact that if you were in the current era you'd be over-shadowed by a bunch of guys in their 20s just starting their career.

Good news is for guys that like old school physiques we have smaller classes. Physique, Classic Physique, 212, etc.

I don't personally want to be an open bodybuilder but I sure as fukk wouldn't want to only see Physique and Classic Physique looking competitors.

Well he is right for the most part imo. But the interviewer hit the nail on the head with his statement about needing to improve something to keep winning. At a certain point you can only add mass. I think having weight to height restrictions could be the only way to bring pro bbing back to normalcy. Sure still have the open class so the freaks can freak. But say if your 5’6”- 5’8” you can only weigh 200 lbs on the day of the show, or even 185 idk what the limits should be but that would force guys to work on symmetry instead of looking the same every year just In a higher class. This would also make the overall much more interesting.
And classic physique is almost fukked alrdy, lotta monsters in that class, which are basically guys that stepped down from bodybuilding class because they weren't placing. Im talking NPC there tho, idk chit about the pro classic guys.

The physiques today are impressive, that's for sure, but now it's more of a "how many gallons of OJ can I drink without dying before the show" competition.

Even the physique and classic competitors are juiced to the gills.

I seriously wish there was a Diet OJ category. They could run it like Nascar, where everyone was told what they could drink. Keep is sane, keep it honest. Will never happen though, there's just too much money from the fake-as-chit supplement industry driving things.

Bodybuilding is dictated by what the consumer wants to see. If they want mass monsters, you'll get mass monsters. If they want aesthetics, you'll get aesthetics.
