Misc internet experts

How do I open ports ? I need to and i quote " open port 450".
I need to set this up for work but it doesn't work. I did what youtube and google said but when i go to a website that checks if its open it says its closed and i still can't use the program i am supposed to for work.


what do ?

I have a TL-WDR3600, went into fowarding -> Virtual servers -> Add -> Service port i put 450 , Ip Address I put the one listed in command prompt, used ipconfig command and i took the ip from IPv4 Address, protocol ALL, Status Enabled.


Still doesn't work..

I also went to firewall and in Inbound Rules i added port 450.

Still doesn't work..


what do ?

Try unplugging it, and then plugging it back in.

Log into your router, go to Port Forwarding, add ports

If you don't mind getting hacked open DMZ setting for instant connection

The IP address is the one from command prompt - > ipconfig -> IPv4 Address .I also tried with the one from Default Gateway but still doesn't work.

wrong ip maybe, are you sure the ip is your IPv4 of the wireless adapter on the specific device you want to open the port on?

I just noticed that I only have Ethernet adapter Ethernet when i look in command prompt.

why is that ? I guess that is the problem

Is your connection wired or wireless?

Type "netstat" in cmd, do a bit of web browsing, then go back to cmd and check under "foreign addresses". Anything with http or https is generally the browser connection, so look at the corresponding local address, which should in the form of LOCAL_IP:PORT where LOCAL_IP is the IPv4 address of the adapter which is connecting to the router, whether it be wireless or Ethernet.

I kinda bs'd my way in networking so I'm not very aweir on how Ethernet port forwarding works. Don't really know how to help you if that is the case.

I presume somewhere that the device will show the 'Public' IP it's using, Maybe you're behind Carrier Grade NAT which means even if you open ports, they won't be open on the internet. Check if the public IP is actually a publically routable IP (or post it here). Or you can ask your ISP if they use Carrier Grade NAT.

Ports are often closed on a router to help prevent unauthorized access to your home network. Opening any additional ports on your router may decrease the overall security of your network.

But there are ways to dodge it.

Log into your router. Click on the Advanced tab and look at IP Address listed under Internet Port. Reply with the first half of the address.



As to checking port forwarding, there needs to be a service running on the port you opened. What service are you trying to run ?

Type the following into the Command Prompt window:

netsh interface portproxy add v4tov4 listenport=130 listenaddress=192.168.1.116 connectport=223 connectaddress=192.168.1.203

Replace the "listenport" and "connectport" numbers with the source and destination port numbers, and replace the "listenaddress" and "connectaddress" numbers with the source and destination IP addresses.

Press "Enter" to run the Netsh command. The port you entered for "listenport" is now forwarded to the port you listed for "connectport."

I just did the UTorrent thing, went to preferences -> Connection and put in port 450.



Now if i go to this website for example :https://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/and i put in my current IP it says that the port is open.



If i put the IP address from command prompt, ipconfig, tried with default gateway and IPv4 address but it says its closed.



The program i am trying to use still doesn't work

You did it correctly and I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be working unless your ISP is blocking it.

Do you have a separate modem or router provided by your ISP?

In the same network, please test whether you can access it with your server's IP address and port number 80 instead; meanwhile, you can use the WAN IP plus port number to test.



Besides, please use telnet to test:

1. in the same network, please go to run—cmd—telnet lan ip port number.

2. in external network, please run—cmd—telnet wan ip port number.

I have no idea what happened but now weirdly enough it works. The only think i did was the Utorrent thing.

It is the same, on the website to check the ports, on my current IP it says 450 is open, when i put the IPv4 IP or gateway IP it says its closed.


I have no idea what that means but it works now so...yea.
