I didnt for about 8 years, just ignore letters, don't let them in or tick online saying you don't use it

Its such a stupid and archaic fee that has no place anymore. Having to contribute to Graham Nortons fat salary because I stream twitch or whatever

I think, I remember Chelshire miscer invited one of the TV inspectors into her house and he had anal sex with her. I may be wrong and it was a Toaster inspector, but full nelson anal sex was had.

It gives you legal permission to watch and record live TV on any channel and download and watch BBC programmes on BBC iPlayer, and helps to fund BBC programmes and services.

Its dumb as chit. You technically need it if you watch ANY live TV, even something foreign or streaming but its to fund the BBC which is mainly 3 channels

Its an archaic system from back when BBC was basically all there was to watch, doesnt make any sense now

It's cr@p right!!? No Soaps at the mo as EastEnders and the Hospital ones had to cease, no Final score in Lockdown, not many decent Films ... but tons of old Comedys like Only Fools and Horses, Fawlty Towers etc etc - but they just refuse to show them!! Not even got Waterloo Rd no more!

But i read somewhere the logic is that the news is funded by the people. If it weren’t then it would be by parties which would make clear bias. Maybe I’m wrong.

Does that actually hold true though? Because in america we don't have a TV license, but adds and parties pay for stations, I think thats why FOX is strong right, CNN is strong left. so BBC doesn't have a political agenda?

its relatively middling but there will always be a bias depending on the guy in charge, or particular reporters

Overall its slightly left leaning, with a strong left lean on social issues

This is how I'm vaguely familiar with what OP is talking about.

What exactly does the fee get you? Everyone is mandated to have cable so you have to pay? In the US you either have free over the airwaves TV or pay for cable. The public television channel is funded purely by the government and donations.

They run signal tests so if you have a connected tv they know. Another cash cow for the government.
Brb forced tv licence tax = chitty bbc channel that nobody watches
brb forced council tax = brb neighburhoods going to chit
brb forced road tax = pot holes and chitty roads everywhere
brb taxing everything and everyone in society = taking out a chunk of your salary making you struggle if you're already earning little
brb forcing businesses to get a licence to "play music" in their stores

Didn't say you get prosecuted by signal tests. I meant this is how they find out and come knocking on your door, my mate moved in his flat and a couple days later they were knocking on his door saying they have a tv signal (how?). They can't prosecute until you actually open the door and confirm.
