Watched Cobra Kai Seasons 1 and 2 (Spoilers)

I binge watched all 20 episodes of this show on Netflix yesterday, it's really good. The actor playing Miguel did a great job, and the character Tory in season 2 stole the show. I liked seeing John Kreese come back at the end of season 1, I really hope we don't have to wait too long for season 3.

I and other people had been saying for a long time that the Cobra Kai characters should be the protagonists, they finally came around to this way of thinking. For too long, we as Americans have had the underdog characters shoved in our faces. Why do we always have to root for the guy who gets his ass kicked? Back in the 90's I was telling people they should make a movie or TV show where Johnny Lawrence is the good guy, and have the story told from his perspective.

I don't completely agree with the Cobra Kai philosophy, because whoever strikes first can be seen as the aggressor if someone gets killed in a fight; it's a much better policy not to go around starting fights. The Miyagi-do philosophy has it's flaws, too. If you're only concerned with defense and not offense, you can get beat up in a fight. Sometimes you have to take the offensive when you're defending yourself.

It was all pretty great until that final, massive fight in the high school. It was so over-the-top. Most of the show (and movies) feel relatively grounded. That fight at the end though just felt so ridiculous and stupid. EVERY character is fighting their rival? The only thing that could've made it more out of whack with the rest of the show's tone was having them all wind up on the roof of the school during a thunderstorm.

Awesome show otherwise.

The fight made sense to me because there were two groups of people trained to fight going at it with each other. I can see what you’re saying, though. Maybe there should have only been two pairs of fighters, Tory and Sam, and Miguel and Robby.

If I had to guess, s3 will prolly drop in April 2021. Remember, we've gone through like a 6 month period of no tv or movies being filmed, so late 2020 and 2021 are going to be a crazy dry spell for new content. Makes sense for Netflix to slow drip this.

They can cut out jokes that aren't politically correct though. Or film and add a few minor scenes with trannies/blacks/gays etc.

Watched season 1 and thought it was awesome.

Started season 2, and didn't go very far. Maybe Ill go start watching it now, I have 0 expectations that it will be as good as season 1 was though.

The filming was all True Detective, too, like it was some BIG SCENE but it's just a damn high school fight, ya know?

Still absolutely love the show and had a stupid grin throughout both seasons. And the END of that fight had a pretty good cliffhanger.

Hawk reminds me of skinheads I knew when I was younger that nobody would want to mess with. He is the most complex and thought out character on the show.
