Anyone watching lovecraft country on hbo

I thought that without the scenic buildup of lovecraft stories the talk of monsters and stuff seemed out of place and jarring, but stuck with it because the cast was likable the production value was good and they had the guy reading the great princess of mars... i thought the first episode was good overall
