What's the point in lifting if you're not making any progress?

I have literally never seen someone at my gym make any sort of progress whatsoever. Clearly they don't find it fun since all they do is text and lift with 0 intensity

I just don't get it lmao

See this all the time in my gym as well.

Most of the guys there lift the same weights, for the same number of reps and sets, without breaking a sweat even.

Most of them even don't train legs and even if they do - it's just a couple of sets on the leg press while looking at their phones etc.

Funny thing is there are a couple of guys training with the PT for over a couple of years, they look worse than when they started, lift with terrible form on most exercises and look like chit lol

they're just there to exercise bro

But really, I think a lot of people just want to be in the gym. If anything it gives them the feeling that they're doing something positive for their bodies, which I can't really hate on. At least they're trying, versus sitting on the couch slowly making the transformation to a whale.

So if you hit your limit you aren't allowed to lift to maintain?

Not everyone wants to push themselves that hard. Most people just want to not be fat.

Low body fat is wayyyyyy more important than lifting after some point.

E.g. 5'8/5'9 guy.

Bench presses 2 wheels, squats 3, deadlifts 4.

Not being hairy and being 10-12% bf with abs would be so much more attractive than

trying to push towards a 3 wheel bench by bulking up.

If you're lifting for looks lifting is useless after that point aside from maintenance. I wish I wasn't so hairy and had to shave all the time. Jealous of the white boys who have naturally hairless upper bodies.

W-w-what?

Also, chicks dig guys who pursue goals. She doesn’t give AF how much you can squat - but she gives AF that you give AF about it.

Atleast that’s how it plays out in my mind.

I have trouble lifting with high intensity, reason being is my heart and lungs suck, I was smoking 30 - 40 a day, my cardio was the main limiting factor when I lifted and not exhaustion of the muscle being worked.

I can't say everyone at your gym has this exact same problem though, I just know its tough to lift breathless.
