I haven't done squats in years due to sciatica. I see you use the safety squat bar - do you really think that helps and keeps your form honest and lower back more properly inline?

Anyway its a lot easier on your shoulders too since you don’t have to reach behind you.

I actually like to keep the handles down because I want that upper back recruitment.

Hmm interesting reply. What is the benefit to you than of the SSB? I thought it was supposed to be the savior of the lower lumber region.

I like SSB squats chiefly for the following reasons:
- Quad activation
- Feels easier on wrists, elbows, shoulders
- FOR ME, the form feels easier. Feels more like a goblet squat and depth just seems so much easier to get into. I pretty much exclusively go ATG on these
- After a long period of exclusively barbell squatting, these are a great variation to make squatting seem fresh again

Yesterday was the first day of gyms re-opening in my state and today I got my first workout in.
Hit some squats/legs and I feel like stephen hawking from the waist down. Didn't even go super heavy but did a lot of volume, Idk how im going to walk tomorrow.
4 sets of back squats
4 sets of single leg press
4 sets of lower back hyperextensions w 45lb plate
4 sets standing calf raise
4 sets seated calf raise
4 sets quad extensions supersetted w hamstring curls
Its so great to be back in the gym again, I missed this sh*t so much. Been a long 6 months but we back baby.

My gym just added a safety bar squat. I really want to try the hatfield squat. Chit looks like it feels amazing.

If the Misc was a busy place with a bunch of threads like it used to be, sure. But as it is, my threads are some of the few in a spattering of incel threads where they're acting like bitches and idiotic political threads.
So no.
