Misc, Wachu Know About Love Bugs? Got Damned it is Hot and **** Hurricane Laura..
God damned war down here. Started seeing them just before Laura and was hoping the storm would get rid of them.
So they are these little bugs in the Deep South. They don’t bite or anything. They just swarm in the spring and again in the fall. They mess up paint on vehicles pretty bad so you have to clean your car almost daily. The swarm lasts maybe three weeks or so.
They stink. Like, when you kill them, the chemicals inside them stink bad.
It is just something southerners have to endure, but it isn’t so bad or inconvenient that people who don’t live in the south are aware of.
I recently started seeing a chit ton in my bedroom. I was so weirded out about how so many were getting in. I looked into it, and then realized.
I still don’t have power from Laura. Probably won’t for another month or two. So I am running stuff on generators. In order to save energy, most of the power is used in my bedroom. Lights, A/C, phone chargers, etc. I’m not gonna use power (and gas) for my guest bedroom if that makes sense.
So one of the extension cords is going in through my bedroom window. It is mostly closed but maybe 1/8 of an inch to let that cord in for power. I guess they like the cool air because they gathered there.
They love white. They swarm people a little, but if you have a white car parked, thousands.
They are obviously a topic of conversation. Like the weather, something we all have to deal with and we all experience so it is a go to small talk concept.
The one thing I always say during such a conversation, “could you imagine if they bit humans?”

Get them off your car pronto amigo they're hell on the paint.
When I worked in hotels we would get dozens of complaints a day during the 2ish weeks of Lovebug season. The outdoor pool bar area would be crawling with them.

I remember one year when I was in high school in NE Texas we had a swarm so apocalyptically thick that a local business made & sold tshirts that said "I survived the great lovebug invasion of 19XX". You couldn't drive more than 5 mins before you had to pull over and scrape your windshield because they would completely cover it. Just big black clouds of them everywhere.

Just remember every time you see them connected they are literally fukking.
They don't even care. They just get down and party wherever they are. No fukks given. Alpha bug/10.
Whereabouts are you? Lake Charles area?
