Who else can’t sleep (insomniac crew)

Woke up an hour after falling asleep at like 11pm and could not fall back asleep. Now it’s almost 4am and I’m still wide awake. This chit sucks

Everyone I know who claims insomniac also plays games late at night or is on a device in bed etc.

Black out the room.
No devices in the bedroom.
Work out during the day.
Chill your mind by reading or something not on a device before bed.

Do the above for at least a week and you will probably be fine.

To motivate you read up on the benefits of good sleep for both cognitive function and fitness and it will make it more of a priority than laying in bed miscing late at night.

When you work night shifts, it's not easy to find a suitable schedule for sleeping especially if you transition back to afternoon shifts so sometimes I find it hard to sleep especially when I've eaten a fukn feed before sleeping
if you need someone to chat with, don't hesitate to shoot me a PM.

Had it when I was young. Now I have the opposite problem.

Have you tried guided sleep meditation/relaxation?

I’ve tried all of that. Tried melatonin/otc sleeping aids. My dad and grandpa are also insomniacs so I’m wondering if it could be passed down through your family. I started to experience this around 13 and it has negatively impacted my school work and social life. Sometimes I can get a short nap in the day

Kinda enjoy these late night threads from you brah. I’ve been staying up later just cuz I’m trying to get more stuff done.

Have you tried magnesium? It would def suck if this continues as you get older, it’ll def wear on you.

Get a weighted blanket. I fall asleep so much faster these days. Would toss and turn and my brain would not turn off at night.
Now i got this blanket hugging me and i don't know what it is, but i just stay put.
I don't turn around much and my mind doesn't go crazy. I swear it helps.

Are they super warm? I prefer to sleep in the cold at around 65 Fahrenheit. Seriously can’t sleep if the temp is over 70

West coast so 3:22 lol. But it’s on purpose these couple weeks.

Google magnesium sleep. Here’s are article:https://www.healthline.com/nutrition...OC_TITLE_HDR_2

Although, if melatonin didn’t help then magnesium might not work either, those 2 combined is a common sleeping aid.

As warm as a regular blanket. So if you're currently sleeping under 1 blanket, just get rid of it and replace it with a weighted blanket.
Someone said ''cool weighted blankets'' exist, but i never looked it up or have experience with them.
Another miscer said he laid a quilt on top of him. Not sure if it's cooler.https://forum.obnoxiousbrutes.com/showt...post1615073871

How would a weighted blanket improve quality of sleep? I toss and turn every night and I can’t sleep on my back at all. Any good weighted blankets you’d recommend?

It makes you turn less. I'm a side/stomach sleeper.
The extra weight is a comfort. I don't know the psychology behind it, maybe humans like the comforting feeling of getting hugged.
Maybe the extra pressure reassures our brain that it's sleep time instead of moving around a lot.

All i tried was the Buzio weighted blanket, which imo is great.
And it's even on sale for cheap. (weighted blankets are normally $100-$200)
https://www.amazon.com/BUZIO-Weighte.../dp/B07R1JK5G8

Get the heaviest possible. Pick a size that's suitable for your bed.
I always choose mine bigger than my mattress so it covers me completely.
And if you end up thinking it's too hot, just return it for free within 30 days.
Good chance is amazon might even let you keep it for free if you complain about it and say you want to return it, since they won't be able to re-sell it and rather just save them the shipping costs by letting you keep it.

I've had insomnia issues for over a year now chit sucks. Weighted blanket has definitely helped keep me asleep once I do fall asleep, I bought a 20 lbs one for $70 off walmart.com that does the job.

Theres cognitive behavioral techniques you can try like sleep restriction and getting out of bed and doing something else (reading, listen to podcast) if you don't fall asleep in 20-30 mins. Also breathing techniques and stuff like counting down in your head while trying to go to sleep to try and keep your mind preoccupied and not racing.

Mine is 80 by 87 inches.
You can go even bigger if you like to pull the blanket really high over you and still have plenty of blanket hanging over the bed at the bottom so your feet don't get exposed to the air.
But that's up to you. Bigger is probably better.
87x92 inches is a good size. I'd pick between those two. 20 lbs or whatever is heaviest.

Link Just takes me to the Walmart home page. I’ve tried the breathing techniques to no avail.
