done last week Thursday. The process was quick, spent about 12 minutes on each eye.

I'm currently 32 and got fed up of my glasses misting up with the covid mask so decided might as well get it done.

From start to finish on the operating table the process was pain free, the only issue being the metal device used to hold the eyelids open -this was very uncomfortable especially for me as i have eye lashes so long it can be used as a broom.

You don't feel the blade when the machine makes the flap, You do smell the laser burning the eye(it smells like burning hair). The doctor places the flap back into place and smears something that looked like gel.

I did the follow up exam on Friday and they were amazed at how well my vision improved by the very next morning. I am one of the lucky one's, i don't have itchy or dry eyes. I use a drop they gave me called "Tobradex" every 2 hours and plastic eye patches when i sleep so that i don't scratch or press my eyeballs in my sleep. They said i can stop using the eye patches after 2 days but i'm gonna keep using them till December just to be safe.

Also bought a huge pair of non prescription clear glasses to wear when i'm walking around - these will act as my safety goggles till December.

So far my vision has improved dramatically for the better, My left eye is still a little blurry which i'm told by the Opthamologist will go away in the coming months.

Got my next check up on Friday and will report back.

I had PRK done about 8 years ago and it's been great ever since.

I had LASIK back in 2014 and it was the best decision I ever made. What OP described is true but it really isn’t as bad as it sounds. You don’t feel anything and the process is very quick. The recovery is pretty quick too.

would never do that. feel like I’d be the .0001% to ruin my eyesight

Nice OP. My sister had it done 2 years ago or so. She got into a pretty bad car accident the next week.

But it didn't have any affect. She has zero issues as well.

How much was it? I heard about it causing issues like dry eyes. I want to do it but kinda scared.

I did it on 1st April 2019. It didn't hurt and it was quick. Probably one of the best decisions of my life.

The only thing that bothered me in the pressure he appliend with the motal thing. It felt like he was going to crush my eyes.

MY 1 YEAR FEEDBACK ON LASIK:

My procedure went smooth with no issues. The doctor will make you aware of the side effects but you need to understand that you may or may not experience them as it all depends on how your body reacts.

I experienced no side affects after the procedure however around the 2nd - 3rd month i noticed that my eyes would collect dust and cotton fibers from towels easily - this was due to the fact the i used artificial tear drops twice a day. Its nothing serious but can be very annoying.

Around the 8 - 9 months after the procedure the above problem disappeared.

All in all i would recommend anybody to go get this done if they are able too. It's really life changing, my confidence has increased, my vision is excellent and it's so nice not having to deal with the hassle of wearing glasses.
If you wear prescription glasses chances are you have difficulty when wearing sunglasses .... let me tell you what a pleasure it is to walk into Sunglasses Hut and buy whatever shades you want and not worry about how you cant see clearly when wearing them




Price depends on who you go too, it really varies from place to place.
The side affects vary from person to person, i was supremely lucky as i didn't have any side effects at all, no dry eyes, no itching all was good with me.
This depends on each individual as everybody's body reacts differently.
Not sure what is was before but i just know that it's great now

Same. Mine are the gas permeable hard contact lenses. They last about a year or two. My vision has been pretty much perfect with them since I got them in the 7th grade. Really not that hard to take them out at night and put them in in the morning. Not gonna fix what isn’t broken.

Had Lasik in 2010 and its one of the best chit I ever spent money on...

I like cooking so i spend a lot of time over the stove and BBQ ... i have a huge fear of the contact lenses melting into my eye

Had PRK 15+ years ago.

My eyesight is now starting to get worse so I'll need Rx in like a few years I am sure.

I had SBK back in late 2016. The whole surgery took < 10 minutes. I went to Dr. Durrie in Overland Park, KS. He’s one of the most experienced lasik surgeons around, and he actually did it not one of his partners.

For me they placed a metal bracket thing near the eye, used these little rubber hooks to hold the eyelid open, the metal thing attaches to the laser machine via some clasps so you can’t really move. The scariest part for me was that they dropped like a hollow, rubbery tube directly onto the eyeball, which holds your eye straight with suction or something. That’s how they prevent your eye from wandering around.

I got some drops a few minutes before surgery that made me not feel a thing. If you’re super nervous they can give you a ****** or something. We drove to cvs on the way home and I bought those individual eye droplet packs they sell, went home and binge watched Stranger Things that day lol

You have to use antibiotic and steroid drops 3x day for a week, and use those droplet lasik eye drops every 20 minutes or so while awake for the first two. He said people often don’t keep them hydrated and it can cause dry eye issues in the future. For me, I stare at screens 10 hours per day as a security analyst so I would get some eye strain normally. I drop them 2x per day when working, but that would happen even without the lasik. Cost was $5900, but look up Dr. Durrie and see his credentials.
