The Idea of God is a Distraction from the Now...

Like a football game, Cardi B, or a game of Spades....

It is a concept that prevents us from being in the moment and living our lives.

We lose part of our lives by dedicating our thoughts to this idea. An idea which all we know is what has been told to us by other people. Or maybe you actually talked to God?

I think you mean to say that "God" is a distraction. The idea of God (not a literal entity) can be very valuable, depending on interpretation.

Any reference to God is a reference to the idea of God. It is impossible to distinguish between a “literal entity” and an “idea” of God. I get where you are going though.

You have genetic code for gods sake that determines what you are and will grow to be, at least blank design without outside influence wise. Look around you at nature and the way life balances and interacts, and then try to tell me there isn't some sort of design here that you can't wrap your head around.

Errm..you are mistaking man made religion and man made interpretations for God.

Is it bad to realize you are a part of a whole? And connected and important in some way (or else you wouldn't be here and have won the sperm to seed lottery)? Is it wrong to realize you are mankind and can't possibly understand everything...as you are not the actual perfect whole...and to accept your role but strive to better yourself?

Religious gods, explained in great detail in religious texts. The same texts that make very specific, and very inaccurate claimes about our universe.

Mathematical equations and biological and chemical processes can be referred to as “God”, but that is not the general understanding or laymen use of the word. No need to read between the lines dude. When you go up and talk to a stranger about “God”, you both have the same general understanding.

A living being separate from the universe that acts within it.

I do acknowledge a lot of healthy (individual and collective) behavior is conducted by individuals who subscribe to the idea of God. And for the specific purpose of their belief in God.

I’m not trying to point out unhealthy or healthy (evil or good) behavior. That separation does not change my point. You can apply “good” or “bad” as an adjective to the word distraction. It doesn’t change the message.

Okay I think that clarifies things and I see what you are saying. I don't think religions completely bad, just like some cops ARE bad but the vast majority just want to help and uplift someone/s. Religious groups do bring a lot of good into this world. Unfortunately, imps masquerading as religious leaders (Kenneth Copeland) do pervert things which are generally meant for the good of the masses.
