Paraplegic that has piss poor posture. My spine is out of alignment and one of the intervertebral discs has wasted away because of it. This caused a nerve or two to get pinched, causing me ridiculous hip pain that requires pain meds not normally given to people. I had a surgery in January to correct the pinched nerve by putting a "spacer" between the discs, which helped the pain a lot, but the spacer popped out and damaged a lot of the bone around it. The neurosurgeon really ****ed up because he did something that's "normal" for regular people, not for my situation. This surgery will allow that area to heal, fix the pinched nerve(s), and make it so the spine/posture will be normal again. I would've had to get this surgery later in life, but the pain is so bad that I'd rather do it asap.

Injury was in 2006, and that's why these complications are happening.

Recovery is 6 weeks. I'm not worried about the surgery at all, but I AM worried about the post-op pain. The post-op pain from the January surgery was INSANE, and that was minimally invasive. I'm having my back cut open again, pretty much going down the entire length of my thoracic spine, plus a little bit of my lumbar. Once the pain is manageable, I'll have to deal with balance issues. I already struggle with balance because some of my torso muscles are affected by the paralysis already, so having my spine immobilized will be extremely different and require a lot of getting used to.

WHat is a bankart repair? Never heard of that.

No, I still work, although I've been sidelined recently because of the covid situation and the pain. The pain is my biggest problem right now. Will be looking for a new job during the recovery.

What area is your spondylosis/disc degeneration in? That **** is no joke, man.

Ibuprofen doesn't do **** for me. I'm prescribed Dilaudid and Xtampza (the new, tamper proof OxyContin) and even that **** doesn't work.

Is there a specific name for the surgery?

Do you currently have any function from the L1 and L2 levels? If they do neurectomies at those levels can they just cut the pain fibers?

Are you having a different neurosurgeon this time?

I remember you posting about going into the last surgery. What types of functional things did you gain from having less pain after the last surgery?

How long will you be in the hospital after surgery?

Any chance you'll ever walk again? Or no short of some new stem cell technology they eventually create?

What do you mean by bad posture? Do you slump over in the chair or lean to one side? I don't understand
Survival. When the jungle tears itself down and builds itself into something new. Guys like you and me, we end up dead. Doesn’t really mean anything. Or, if we happen to live through it, well that doesn’t mean anything either.

Batman recovered from a broken back, what's your excuse?
“Steroids is now just a word that the lazy and ignorant use to describe any guy that has more muscle and dedication than them”– Mike O'Hearn

"I am like getting the feeling of cumming in the gym; I'm getting the feeling of cumming at home; I'm getting the feeling of cumming backstage; when I pump up, when I pose out in front of 5000 people I get the same feeling, so I am cumming day and night. It's terrific, right? So you know, I am in heaven."

No motor function, although I haven't tried moving the muscles below the waste in over a decade. I do have some sensation, though. And the temperature sensations are pretty good.

The nerves that relay the pain signals are actually pretty nuts. I don't think that there are specific fibers that can be cut. They just remove the entire nerve at specific points.

Different neurosurgeon, yeah. **** the old one.

Well, the last surgery only gave me pain relief in the hip for about a week, then the spacer popped out and the pain came back. I wasn't healed from the actual surgery yet, so I gained nothing from it but extra pain.

Hospital stay depends on how much pain I'm in. I get released when the pain is tolerable with my normal pain meds. I see my pain doctor the day before the surgery to get the doses increased, so I'll probably be there for about a week.

Zero chance. I'm missing enough of my spinal cord (see profile picture) that stem cells won't do anything. They become what you put them around, so inject them into that area where the cord is missing and they'd become scar tissue.

Bad posture is from normally leaning forward in my chair. I also used to lean to the left a lot because it helped with my right hip pain, but I still lean left a ton even though it no longer helps the pain. Those two things have caused my spine to look stupid, lol

Surgery, in my opinion, isn't that big of a deal. The neurosurgeon is performing it, an orthopedic surgeon will be assisting, and a gaggle of other people will be there helping. Only thing worrying me is the post-op pain. **** that stuff.

Drove home drunk in 2006 and flipped my truck. Ended up with mild brain damage and a crushed spinal cord. Don't drive drunk/high. I was one of those "It'll never happen to me" idiots.
