That's not relevant to what I posted, I don't know how the US system works exactly but just because it sucks doesn't mean ours is good. I never go to the doctor because I'm in great health, but I have to pay for the healthcare of all the fat kunts and old people who never looked after themselves, not to mention the NHS funded sex change operations. I'd rather that money went to paying for fat camps, or that they all went bankrupt or just dropped dead.

I actually love living in a country where a health issue isn't a ticket to bankruptcy.

I also love living in a country where my health care IS NOT reliant on a corporation with a direct profit motive to ensure I DO NOT I get that vital (but costly) test or treatment. And in fact have a direct profit motive to get me as close to death as possible before they are obliged to pay for anything so that I die quicker & cheaper.

I'd hate to be living in a country with some of the _highest_ per capita health expenditure in the OECD, but among the _worst_ health outcomes, with a dumbass system that meant my country had the HIGHEST administration costs for health care (as opposed to, actual health care costs). I'd feel like a real asshat if I loved that system.

My dad broke.his wrist and didn't wanna put it through his business insurance for whatever reason. They did x-rays, brace and few other things all for under $100.

In real lyfe most USA people have health insurance, and a lot of people choose not too. For most of us, you have an annual "cap" on how much you pay yourself (mine is $10k if I recall correctly). After that point my insurance pays for everything.


Those stories of the people getting bills for $2,000 ambulance rides? So those are people that didn't have insurance, and the hospital is "attempting" to get money from them. Meaning the bill isn't really the bill - it's the first step in a negotiation to get some cost recuperation from the patient. If a person got a $2k bill and they were dirt poor, the next step is they'd call the hospital and say they can't pay this, they don't even have money for insurance. The hospital would then ask "Ok how much can you pay?" So these stories of USA people facing crazy medical costs aren't real.


And FYI - no politician has been able to put forward a proposal for universal healthcare in the USA that was practical. In a country of 330 million, with huge subsets of the population that not only don't contribute but are massive drains on the system, the last policy proposal put forward was by Elizabeth Warren, a former presidential candidate. Her plan acknowledged that it would cost $53 trillion to achieve universal healthcare, and that the money to pay for it coming from "wishful thinking" (ie taxing stock trades). She was laughed right out of the building and had to quit her presidential campaign shortly after releasing her impossible plan.

Yeah, British people are generally stupid. I’m British and even I say that. Despite engaging in it, most Brits somehow don’t grasp the concept of things being paid for by taxation or the fact that things run in this way are rationed, hence our chit health service.
