Ownership for vacation purposes, vacation home etc.. should be welcome. It brings money to the country.

Ownership to profit off citizens of that country and take it back to your home country is a whole different ballgame and should be taxed to hell and back to make it unprofitable.

If that's true then you should just squat in their property and they'd never know.

Landlords are making a profit. Rentcels never acknowledge this.

Money to upkeep a house never exceeds the mortgage or the value unless you're retarded.
Home owners can recoup money spent by selling. Rentcels are lucky if they get their security deposit back.

Glad to hear you got another job. I must have missed the post on that interview. You still planning to go cold turkey on the partying once you start?

This is one of THE biggest contributors to the “housing crisis” our nation is in. The Chinese in particular. They gobble up American real estate, and often times let it sit vacant. Why?It’s as secure of a “savings account” as they can get. The Chinese govt can seize their bank accounts without cause/warning/etc, but cannot touch foreign assets like real estate. Even if the property never gets rented, it will more than likely appreciate higher than whatever savings account they have, plus it is “safe” from the government.

The sitting vacancies have become such a problem in Los Angeles that they recently passed a bill that will fine/tax owners that let properties sit vacant (speculators), but it wont change anything.

TLDR; foreigners should not be permitted to purchase real estate in the US.
