The "Kansas Comet" has passed away

Former Bears running back Gale Sayers, the “Kansas Comet” whose dazzling moves and breakaway speed made him the most dangerous runner in football in the 1960s and earned him Hall of Fame honors despite playing in just 68 games because of injuries, has died. He was 77. He had been diagnosed with dementia in 2012, his wife Ardythe announced in 2017.

I remember when Walter Payton died in 1999. Shortly after that, the Bears blocked a field goal and beat the Packers at the last minute. I'd like to think Walter had something to do with that. Hopefully Gale will help the Bears beat the Falcons this Sunday.

My dad insists that Gayle Sayers is the best runningback the Bears ever had, with all due respect to Walter.

He's old though, he also said Oscar Robertson was better than Michael for a loooong time too before changing his tune in the late 90's.

A democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. And that's why the USA is a constitutional republic and not a democracy.

Sayers was the best RB, probably, but he got injured and retired early. Payton is like 1A, and his career was much longer and more fruitful.

RE: Oscar Robertson, that's not a difficult position to support if you look at the stats. Your dad isn't dumb.
