Is sleep paralysis proof that we live in a simulation?
So I just had some herb and came up with this idea. Before telling my bois Eddy Bravo and Bro Rogan about it, I want to share with the misc.
I read that sleep paralysis tends to happen to people who are also capeable of lucid dreaming. Thats why I haven't ever practiced it.
Maybe lucid dreaming is some kind of enlightenment that let's you snap out of the set boundaries of the simulation. Like a cheat code in a game.
And sometimes when you try to enter the cheat code / lucid dreaming a GM appears and scares the **** out of you to give you a warning.
What do you think?
The math behind simulation theory is pretty damn solid. But I still like to feel like we are really this special one of a kind universe.

I’ve had sleep paralysis a ton, but only lucid dreamed once I think. Not sure if they’re that related.

Even if we knew and could prove we were in a simulation what difference would it make? It def would explain the clown world however.

It’s just chemicals.
When we sleep our brain releases the neurotransmitters norepinephrine, histamine, and some serotonin. Together these chemicals act as a paralytic. The evolutionary advantages of having a mechanism which prevents us from physically acting out our dreams is pretty obvious.
Sleep paralysis occurs when we are in a state of waking up, but the effects of these chemicals has not worn off yet. This can be an awkward experience, especially if you are not familiar with why it is happening. Many times our brains will fill in the missing information in an attempt to answer why it is happening. Like a demon sitting on our chest or something full potato like that.
That is it. The whole thing.
Personally, I can induce sleep paralysis intentionally. This does help get into a state of lucid dreaming which I do on the reg. Once you are in sleep paralysis, just don’t freak out. Let your body do the whole sleep thing, but stay with your mind.
You will be flying in no time. Which is my favorite thing to do in dreams.

I remember when I first started experiencing sleep paralysis in my early 20s, it scared the chit clean out of me. First time I got it I thought it was just a weird dream, went back to sleep and it happened again straight away. I spent the rest of the night reading all sorts of chit about it and was almost convinced my house was haunted. This continued for about the span of a year and I eventually got used to it. I was abusing stims heavily at the time and I think it was because my serotonin receptors were shot.

Had sleep paralysis twice in a week only and had no idea what it was, didn't have Internet or anything back in the day. Scared the fukk outta me while it was happening. Felt an ominous presence behind me that I couldn't see and thought I was being abducted and gonna get probed.
Lucid dreamed once and it was cool as hell. No idea how or why any of these things happen but I'd more lucid dreams, never again sleep paralysis.

I used to have a lot of sleep paralysis. I haven't had one in ages until yesterday I almost got one after practicing some esoteric Qigong. This thing is demonic

Out of no where I just realized I was dreaming. The first thing I wanted to do was to prove it to myself. I tried turning the lights off. Nothing happened. I determined I was trying to alter it too much and needed to focus on something smaller. I looked at a person and wanted them to simply turn around. They did as my brain willed and I freaked the fuk out and woke up.Must be nice. I never freak out anymore and actually enjoy sleep paralysis some what. But can never transition from paralysis to lucid dreaming where I can move around and do whatever I want.
I’m not sure why it happened that first time. Maybe it was a result of intentionally trying many times before and lack of sleep or whatever.
Since then, I have become effective at doing it with the method I had been practicing. I would say just try to keep with it. Our brains do learn through practice and integrating imagery. Literally, just envisioning it happening can contribute to it happening. Like right now, take a minute and just imagine yourself sleeping, but in control of your dreams.
Our brains are fun little toys we get to play with.

I heard a theory out there that our bodies are basically antennae for whatever signals come to us thru the aether. Kinda combines ideas between religious and agnostic and/or atheist views. Interesting to think about.

Judging by the threads on the misc, people here have no idea what 'proof' means.
It's not even a scientific theory, it's a philosophical idea constrained by believing the axioms it presents. If any one of the axioms presented aren't true (which there's a high chance of), then simulation theory fails. It's also based mostly on statistics, statistics which again fall apart if any one of the axioms presented is false.
And now you're trying to shoe horn a pretty well understood biological mechanism (which has been presented above) as some kind of 'proof' of simulation theory based on postulates you present. What you've presented is an idea/theory of how sleep paralysis could be related to simulation theory and modelled it as such, but nowhere in your logic does it show sleep paralysis is proof or evidence for simulation theory. Evidence or proof would be some observation that actually shows that the model you've presented is true, not merely presenting the model.
It sounds like you're not really interested in finding out the truth, rather you've decided simulation theory is true and now you're suffering heavy confirmation bias.

I wouldn’t call it proof but I’d consider it evidence along with dreams/fantasies/etc

So when I wake you up in the middle of your REM sleep you will be paralyzed because the chemicals have no time to wear off??

I had sleep paralysis once and it scared the **** out of me. I was fully awake and aware, but I *could not* make anything move or open my eyes. weird sh!t. oddly I was sleeping in an ER chair waiting on the wife who wasn't feeling well.

But really it boils down to just two questions:
1. Do you think humanity will ever be able to make a simulation like this?
2. Will humanity do it if they can?
My answers are yes to both if we dont get wiped out randomly. And then it's a really high chance that you're living in one of millions of simulations vs the one original.

never had a real lucid dream. had a dream that seemed extra real where also had an out of body experience so that was probably pretty close but I thought it was real not a dream.
had sleep paralysis once, was pretty crazy, I woke up and I thought a demon was in the room watching me and I was super scared, said Im going to pretend to be asleep so it doesnt know Im up and maybe it will go away but I actually couldnt move. Then felt a huge weight on my back pushing me down into the bed.
Weird I am an atheist and dont believe in ghosts and never saw one or had any experiences with them but for sleep paralysis I felt like there was a demon there. Probably something in the brain in certain situations can force you to believing in mystic things, same with people on dmt always seeing aliens or elves. Like they can hook electrodes to your head and induce a religious experience.https://slate.com/human-interest/200...s-ecstasy.htmlSleep paralysis does something similar, makes you feel like there is a presence in the room.

i'm not sure i've heard of a full scale unanimous opinion
you say these neurotransmitters act as a "paralytic" so you're saying these neurotransmitters specifically stop the brain? i thought you were going to say these neurotransmitters are responsible for dreaming. those are 2 separate things imo. if they are the paralytic then it seems plausible that other neurotransmitters are responsible for the dreaming part.. the degree and amount of which is also important
further, you say the brain "releases" these, im guessing you're trying to insinuate in the "sleep" state - cause why wouldn't these be "released" normally or "awake"? is it because of the way the brain is structured and acts on these things while "asleep" or once again are you trying to imply that the release of these chemicals induces the dreaming state?
even more, again, if these "chemicals" react the way they do when asleep then how come this can't happen when awake?
how do you establish that they are separate?

Images or fearfulness comes from panicking. You can't move because your brain basically tells your body not to move so you dont hurt yourself. You're basically in a half state of sleep. You are "awake" but not. Thats why can be aware of your surroundings and still have an sense of dread since you are "sleeping". That's the scientific stuff
Now if you are religious or spiritual you can think its something else.
I used to get it every day as a kid well into my young adult days. I would not sleep for days at a time but I eventually got fed up to the point whenever it happened I would yell at whatever I felt was watching me.

i **** you not i used to get sleep paralysis 3-5 times a day when i first started working overnight shifts as a teen. it's scary as ****. like i could close my eyes sitting on a chair and have sleep paralysis. then wake up and not be able to move anything. and there's times where it was like inception, i thought i woke up cause i went downstairs to do something and talk with family, then i suddenly wake up and im in bed but in sleep paralysis mode.
