Yeah, I'm in that weird middle stage right now.
I've probably dropped like 2-3% bodyfat, but I actually seem to look worse in clothes. Also, my core has a ton of muscle right now so I actually have that muscular dad bod look with some fat/skin sagging until I tighten it up more. If I can manage to stay the course and stick to what I'm doing now, I'll start to be really happy with myself in another 3 weeks, which should be ok.
Still have kinda fat face as well, which makes me feel worse about it. Should do a week or two of strict keto to get rid of that chit.

Srsly tho I cut for 4-5 days then give up.
If I could keep a good pace for cutting that would be nice. I'm on antidepressants that give extreme hunger and I'm going to sort it out soon.
Have a doc appointment soon and we will figure something out.
Hopefully summer 2021 I'll be shredded.

Yes. Staying in bear mode before becoming a dad was a terrible plan because my eating stayed the same but my 4-5 hours of lifting per week went down to 0-1 hour. Disgusting dadbod crew feels bad mane. Have only gained like 10lbs but have recomped so much muscle into fat. Cutting my diet in half rn tho making progress.

Just take it easy, man.

Seeing people here that are morbidly obese counting calories, weighing food, stressing over minor crap, going super low calories, working out like it's a job they hate & dread and only succeeding from being really fat, to less fat and then give up. Get fatter and repeat doing the same chit that didn't work all the other times doesn't make me LOL at them. I had a period in my life where I just gave up on everything and was like that. It's like seeing people in a car on a dirt road that is stuck in the mud and they think if they just go full throttle it will get them unstuck. Maybe, but most likely you'll just spin your wheels, dig yourself in deeper and be even more stuck in the mud.
5'11", at one time for a short period, I was 260lbs. Looked like a walking refrigerator. I got down in stages through a year plus to 220lbs. Not sure how I did it, just wasn't gorging myself on food as much. Eating a whole large pizza wasn't one of my meals for the day anymore. @2015, started working out, ran swam, lifted. I hated running. It made me dread going to the gym, so I decided I wasn't going to do it till I was 200lbs. Diet was just try not to eat too much. Got down to 200lbs, doing pretty much the same thing, but my lifting progressed and eating less was even less than before.
Got to 180lbs, this was where I switched started including calisthenics with lifting. Still dread running, not doing it till I am a solid 160lbs. Was just doing 50 dips at 10 reps per set and 70 pull ups at 5 to 8 reps per set. Dips are easy, pull up was very challenging. Diet became one meal a day, graze throughout the day eating @200 calories of something. I didn't count the calories, just saying it's a small amount of food. Got to 170lbs, this was where I switched to doing just about only calisthenics. 200 pull ups within my 2 hours at the gym was easy. Dips feel like nothing. Did a bunch of other stuff too.
I'm at a pretty solid 165lbs now, not posting pics, but abs show including lower and Adonis belt, separation everywhere. All from just trying to eat less, it doesn't matter too much what food and of course that included protein, but just less of it. Which continuously became even less to where I think I just know how much I needed to eat to maintain. Every now and then, I did a sort of "fast" and dropped weight, then tried to maintain that drop till I felt solid there and then another "fast" period to drop again. When I am solid at 160lbs, gonna start counting calories and do a very careful lean bulk to 165lbs.
TLDR
Stop making simple things complex and difficult.
Just eat less.
If you don't enjoy working out, just do something physical that is easy.

I’m like 6’1 195 rn and pretty ripped. Not shredded but definitely lean.
Losing weight is literally just eating less. If you want to maximise fat loss and minimise muscle loss it gets a bit more complicated but even then it’s simple AF. Just gotta lift heavy, keep the calorie deficit moderate, and get a decent amount of protein. No need to go overboard and eat 200+ grams of protein or eliminate carbs. Cardio can speed up the process but remember you have limited energy on a cut and need to prioritize lifting to preserve as much muscle as you can.

I came off a long term bulk and decided to cut down. Best advice is to stay consistent and plan ahead. Cut the fast food out and prepare your food for the next day. Rest is easy.

Start with a 3-4 day fast to reset your chit ( especially if you eat lots of sweets, sugars, simple carbs )
End the fast with nuts, walnuts, no carb that day.
Next day eat nuts and a copious tomato salad.
Then you can basically maintain this eating habit and you will see you actually do not need as much food as you think you need.
I would suggest downloading the app fasting tracker and eat in a small window + pick a day of the week that you skip eating.
Also, cut down on the carbs and try to eat bread only when really needed ( like with a salad )
There is something about this feeling of hunger that gets you but if you keep on fasting like this and skin eating for a whole day in a week that feeling will be way more easy to manage.
For example for in the last 3 years i gave up and ate everything i wanted. I always used to eat sweets after food, and almost all of my meals included a cola with them.
The first day i started fasting i felt like i was going to literally pass out ( i never passed out in my life but this was very close ), not because i had no food but because this feeling of hunger overwhelmed me.
Then the next day i felt normal, the feeling was gone and i was ok for the next 3 days of fasting.

All weight loss boils down to is will power, you have to keep going until you reach your goal weight, as long as it takes.
I've lost over 30 pounds in the last 2 months by fasting and simply not eating as much.
