Early on his career, he was working 24/7 on his businesses. Obviously he's not going to do analyst work anymore and instead use his time to focus on actual decision making. PayPal wasn't the first business he sold, it was the second but you don't here about the first one since it wasn't as large of a transaction. But sure, everything he's done is luck
