Make the chicken bowl or buy the chicken bowl?
Misc, help bros. I don't mind meal prepping. I dont mind stepping out to pick up foods. But I eat the same chit almost everyday, and I like it. Everyday M-F I eat a chicken bowl with rice and green onions. Not to say I never eat anything else, sometimes I will take some of my crew out to eat, what im trying to say is, I have no interest in changing what im eating, just deciding on how I get there..
I go to Flame Broiler each day during lunch. I get a regular chicken bowl. Thats approx. 600 cal, 45g protein, 68g carbs, 14g fat. This costs me about $8. I am paying for someone else too cook rice and chicken for me so it's nice and hot.
My other choice is to meal prep and i'd be eating my rice bowl cold. Which i dont really care about.
Im torn bros. is $40 worth lunchtime warm food and laziness? Help me get some perspective.

buy the bowl. your time and ingredients and convenience and pleasure is worth something. cut some other dumb expense from your budget - like paying for music, cable, phone data, etc. that you don't use.

Buy it every time if you're making big bucks. Who cares if it's -$3000 a year. There's more to life than scraping up every penny and investing it.

Worth it to me, I did this for a while with Chipotle. How much is your time worth to you? Are you trying to save money for anything? How much are you spending on other meals?
If you're in a good place financially, don't sweat the small stuff. At best, you'll save $20 a week if you meal prepped. A few hours of meal prepping every week to save $20 isn't worth it to me unless the macros were substantially better.

i don't think eating something simple like that for lunch is that big of a deal, especially if you don't need that money for something more important. if you're pay check to pay check that's a good place to shave expenses but otherwise fuk it, enjoy your meal

Thanks for the responses folks. I make enough disposable income to afford this, I'm not necessarily saving for anything, but i do always like to maximize the savings for my family. I thought maybe I was being really lazy, glad to hear some other perspectives.

I've tried meal prepping or making fast food at home and its never quite as good. The rice part is a rip off, maybe see if you can order just the chicken and steam your own rice?
