Why are tides so small at the equator?
I googled for almost 10 minutes.
And I read this, which was pretty handy

But I have the impression that tides are smaller at the equator.
Evidence:
a) I've been around it a few times
b) The two highest tidal areas are Alaska and NE Canada (thanks google)
Can someone explain?
