Anybody else love Mark Manson’s book “The SUBTLE Art of not giving a fuk”?

Amazing book IMO

Book about only giving a fuk about what truly matters in life.

Basically talking about the fact that most people worry about trivial things.

I like how you used "trivial things" as a euphemism for "themselves".

The number of altrusitic people in this world are few and very very far between. Doing "good deeds" and informing all media channels about these is as egotistical and insincere as things get.

I read this book and literally there was nothing of substance in it past the title. Just my two cents. Like the concept though.

If you have an iPhone, check out iBooks. I've bought a couple things off the store and they're usually cheap. It's a short book according to google so reading on a phone won't be too bad.

i read it years ago. wasnt all that. if anything its just stoic philosophy again. accept the shattered world as a given, focus on yourself, etc.

It's a very basic surface-level book. Does not dive deep at all towards the root, psychology etc.

This and "On The Tranquility of the Mind" by Seneca. Subtle Art is a pretty good book on stoicism (srs) but the ideas are hardly new. The edgy teenager style of swearing got a little old but it's still a good read.

I asked and got it as a gift. Read the first 5 pages then concluded that the whole book is just tldr of the title.

Nothing new if you dgaf about trivial chit already


And you get the feeling the guy thinks himself of a real bad mofo for using 'fuk' everywhere he can (fuk - yeah you read that right, I said it) (hey did you notice I just wrote fuk?)

There's been a book written about pretty much everything. So most books are just re-hash's anyway. Still a cool modern day spin on it.

I like the swearing. Makes it seem more raw and real, plus most others are scared to write like this. Means the guy wasn't trying to appeal to the mainstream which is a good thing.

By the way, I've read most philosophy books, and yes I've read meditations as well. Good book. But I'm pretty open minded.

agreed, anything that helps communicate the ideas and keep reminding u of them is good to immerse urself in imo, there’s a reason stoic ideas r still around after 2000+ years
