Did anyone ever fly on the Concorde Plane?

Always been fascinated with planes since I was young, and I was just watching a documentary about the Concorde, and remembered how fancy they were at the time.

Brb going to London for the day from New York only will take 3 hrs.


Anyone ever fly in them back in the 80's 90's early 2000's etc. If so how was your experience?

No but it should never have been retired just because of one crash where there was a lack of maintenance on they retired the fastest passenger plane in history.

No but it used to fly over my house from London Heathrow. It's was f***ing loud. Made the windows shake.

I agree, but they also said 9/11, and the drop of passengers with very expensive maintenance costs contributed to their demise.

Seeing a Concorde is part of the reason I wanted to travel so badly when I was young. By the time I could travel internationally alone, they weren't in operation. Feels bad mayne

The Concorde was outrageously expensive and basically every seat was more expensive than an average first class ticket today...

Average individual ticket price with inflation today is 12-14k (JFK to LHR)...


Im not guessing not many miscers were swinging that 20 some odd years ago.

Imagine time traveling from 80s or 90s to 2020... Probably full of hope of future technology.. Went to the moon and could travel in a supersonic commercial passenger airline.. 2020 is surely going to be insane..

Nope.. Enter clown world where you have to wear a mask for your 8 hour long ass flight that could've taken 3 hours if we used 40 year old technology lmao..

I did not but my older brother had, he said it was underwhelming and expected more. Late 90's, said the plane was sort of dated and worn. Cut a few hours off the flight but said it felt like nothing other than a shorter flight.

right, his company paid for it and said he would never pay that much himself just to save a couple hours. Think he said it was something like $10k to fly it. If your time is that valuable and you want to save time then yes, but he was adamant it wasn't more comfortable or luxurious than an avg 1st class seat. He flew a lot so he had lots to compare it to.

I thought it was considered a few years back but was so cost prohibitive and with airlines struggling was going to turn into a money pit.

It was long past when it should have been retired. It lost a lot of money. The French and UK governments were subsidizing it and losing taxpayer dollars on it. It never made economic sense, but was kept alive by bureaucrats.

Hardly anyone flew on it because ticket prices were something like 10x the price on a standard jet. Why pay $10,000+ for a seat when you could pay $800 on a normal jet flight and get there only 3 hours later?

I mean, just smartphones themselves would probably be pretty mindblowing. that and flatscreen tvs with on demand content from the "internet".

Pandemic aside, back in the 80s or 90s you'd be lucky to have a projector in the front of the cabin playing some random movie to occupy you on your 10 hour flight. And if you were too far from the screen maybe you had a newspaper or magazine to occupy you. Now we have ipads/smartphones and personal screens behind every seat with 200+ movies to chose from. Oh and the price of a ticket back then was about double what it is now, and you'd be lucky to find a direct flight if your origin and destination weren't two major cities.
