just some real men doing real man ****

I used to watch these videos in amazement and now I get to do this chit for a living -- haven't landed any steel with a chopper yet but soon.jpg (not my crew or video)

nothing like the rush slapping a bull pin down and slippin some bolts in some fresh steel at heights while hangin off a pull strap

sky-tradie crew

one of these boyos would have had to climb that antenna to de-rig it and bring the straps / rigging down, those pegs are only rated for climb/rest -- if you tie off to one and fall it's likely to snap, so that is all free climb.

all so you landcels have access to the radio waves / cell signal your lives depend on

we chit in forests before we climb, if the wind is right we piss off the tower or hold it

at 1000' it would take about 45 mins to climb down if you do a straight shot.. but that's exhausting
takes way longer to climb because straight shooting 1000' is impossible

if you're pissing off the tower the common courtesy is to radio in yellow rain, otherwise you'll get your ass beat if you piss on someone and nobody gets fired for it(except maybe you)

once the yellow rain call is made anyone on the ground gets in the shelter or a truck

lol @ wearing a helmet when you’re almost in space
-Some people say good things come to those who wait, truth is, good things come to those who work..... who work later.....who work harder...... who are willing to go further than anyone else to get them. If you're waiting for good things to come to you, you'll be waiting for a pretty long time.

It amazing what those chopper pilots can do.

We flew some lifts of material to a job site last winter because the ice was too bad to do it by snowmobile.

Pilot used an A star. Crazy how skilled they are

Blows my mind what they do, we have a lot of remote access sites in bc that require skilled pilots to get to

Depends how good of a worker you are, and the variety of work you can perform

There are all different providers and technologies that are all configured differently for cell

Radio is a whole different ball game

then there are the guys who do steel as well

Not everyone is physically cut out for steel work on and some cell guys arent mentally cut out for radio

fall or fail ?

if equipment falls someone usually loses a job, everyone knows someone that's died or knows someone that knows someone in this industry. Fortunately no one I know personally has died yet
