I just looked at the national average for tower tradies in america, 40-60k a year. That doesn't seem worth it climbing those heights.

I agree generally and would never do some chitty job like laying bricks or whatever in an urban chithole. But climber boyo's job is fun as chit. I did tree climbing briefly and it was, hands down, top 3 working experience I've had. He gets to ascend hundreds of feet in the air in remote locations and get paid 6 figures for it.

also the google stats on avg salary is not correct
everyone i know in this industry is clearing six figures except green beans (maybe thats what they are basing it off)

also i love my job, wake up excited to work and the days over before I even realize

great views, rush, food and hotels paid for, see the world and get paid to do it

12 hour days feel like 4 hours, outside enjoying a great view and the thrill of the heights

the funny thing is most people realize the tradie thing is a running joke here, and understand that a majority of trades workers live good lives with valuable skill sets. we just all play along.

Then by all means go for it if you enjoy it. I climb telephone poles for a living, I wouldn't climb any higher personally unless I'm getting paid double what I make now

I don't get six figures yet, but when I'm working (currently full time student), all my travelling, food and accommodation is taken care of AND I get to keep my boots on the ground hehe.

I would love climbing trees for work again, but the salary caps out and 100 feet is the cut off for me. Huge respect for you tower bros though.

i mean it depends on what you do. what exactly is that you do that you think is so complicated? as though no other person can do it.

cause im pretty sure youre replaceable, if not moreso because of prevalence of college degrees vs. tradies. e.g. more college degrees in the workforce than tradies

im willing to bet i can do what you do and do it better. and if its something super specialized, i could prob do that too. will just take a lil learning
Meanwhile I'm normally flying first class around the country to argue with people getting paid handsomely, but since COVID I'm just arguing from my house on Zoom but still getting paid the same salary lololol, just don't have the trial bonuses any more which does suck, but 2021 is scheduled out to be sooper joocy.
that sounds awful. and sounds more like you're trying to justify what you do and apply more meaning to the boringness. also sounds like you have a more conservative personality where "arguing on zoom" is more exciting than climbing chit
