Nothing gives you peace of mind quite like disengaging from political obsession
Like just ignoring/disengaging the news media and people on social media who obsess over it can give you a feeling of being at peace with the world. Leaving social media spots where it's a big thing, not letting that be a part of your life, once you do that you realize how politics really has no power over you or any real impact on your life.

there's definitely a benefit to ignoring politics but, ya know, you gotta stand up for your country when needed

I don't agree, politicians influence the value of the dollar, the economy, and your countries demographics. Sweeping in the rug doesn't solve the problem.

But politics essentially has all my classes online, Uni gym closed, can’t be social at all. Can’t just ignore that

Even Indian born Canadians are drowning in the sea they voted for.Unless you are a politician or someone very important chances are there is nothing you can do to influence politics.

Local politics have a lot bigger impact on your life than anything happening on a national level. It would for sure make me a certified boomer once it happens, but I could actually see myself getting involved in a non-toxic area of local politics.
I've been anti-politics for probably 10 years now and did pretty well until not being able to avoid it this year. Every newspaper I read went from having a couple light political stories impacting business or the economy to 2/3rds of the front page covered with in your face garbage.
The group chat with my friends from college went from being all talk about to fuking bitches and other various forms of bullchit to politics and me basically threatening to disown them for polluting the chat with obnoxious politcal bull****.
I'm leaving the US for a week in a few days, and it's going to be the most necessary mental health break I've ever had. Anybody who used COVID as an opportunity to push political chit into my psyche is dead to me. They're all no longer part of my network. And this includes one of my brother's significant others. I'm reaching the age where I will no longer see them more than 1-2 times per year anyways, but I think I'll go at least a couple years before seeing her again.

your vote will never matter
your politicians will never tell the truth
you'll never know what is actually happening or who is actually pulling the strings
life is a 1-player game and the only way to lose is to be unhappy unnecessarily during it
apathy and indifference should be your sword and shield
trolling should be your special move
thank me later
