People have simply replaced wholesome happiness with momentary thrills. I think it comes as a byproduct of people having no transcendental goal in life. If you have no goal that transcends the ordinary, animalistic impulses of human life, then you cannot experience some of the more noble feelings that lead to wholesome and longstanding happiness. People don't understand what patience, sacrifice, work, perseverance mean anymore except in pursuit of money (but not really even in that anymore as more and more people look for shortcuts). To sacrifice your time and desires to raise a family, people who are going to love you when you are old and who are going to be a positive, hard-working, respectable people in the world...to raise your sons and daughters like that, even though and perhaps especially because it requires some sacrifice on your end should result in the kind of wholesome happiness that nutting into an attractive member of the opposite sex won't give you.

Of course we all have desires, impulses and sometimes drift into searching for thrills...at the end of the day when I look back at my life as a totality, I imagine there's going to be a long list of mistakes, wasted time pursuing vain things, pain but also happy moments and moments that seemed insignificant at the time they happened but turned out to be really all there is to life when you look back on it. I don't think when I'm about to die I'll be thinking about the 9/10 I nutted into once or twice but instead I will probably be thinking about things like taking care of my parents when they were old, raising my own kids, having a good relationship with my dog (srs), some nice moments I spent in nature, some moments I've spent with my friends doing completely ordinary things like having dinner and so on. Of course that all sounds boring as it happens and some of it requires sacrifice, time and work, but I don't think there's anything "beyond" that.

Sometimes you've got to take a breathe and reflect on it. I'm happy to have a loving family, good friends and a good dog, and we're all obviously flawed each in our own way but at the end of the day I know they are not malicious, they're good people trying their best for the most part and that's just all there is to it, I hope I can die with my conscience looking past my mistakes and saying "well that was a good attempt, not bad bud" but it goes without saying that life as whole will be filled with joy, pain, suffering, work and all of that working in confluence that makes for the Grand Opera we call life. The goal would be not to squander the gift on the most base things and make something noble of it instead.

Pointless to make an IG unless you have something to stand out from the crowd (top 10% looks, money, lifestyle, blahblah).
