Sugar Ray Leonard Motivation
Found this the other day, great 30 minute speech if you feel like listening to it. I combined them in a playlist for your comfort.

Cliffs:
Through sheer determination and will, I was able to push my body and mind to a whole new level.
Determination is what turns an average man into a winner.
The successful do what they must, what they can, to be the best.
And these may be painful sacrifices, but it’s this type of determination that just happens to build tremendous confidence. Determination gives you that mental edge.
My determination had allowed me to do what they considered impossible.
What hurts more? The pain that it takes to achieve great success? Or the pain that’s associated with the loss of pride due to lack of success?
Whether it’s winning olympic gold or becoming a CEO or being the first person from their family to gradate, they all have 1 thing in common: That is the frame of mind that it took to get there. Which is a combination of focus, of goals, of believes and strategies that kept them on the direct path to their dreams.
You can’t know success until you’ve known failure.
Your past does not equal your future, unless you want it to.
Power - To prepare, to overcome, to win every round. It begins by dreaming the dream. Your dreams are your window to the future. Your goals are the vehicle that takes you there. You take way those dreams and you’re stuck in a room without windows. You take away those goals and you don’t have a map to get to your dreams.
No fear of failure. Only fear of doing nothing.
You take a huge risk every time you step into the ring. But if you program yourself not to fear the knock downs (failure), you will reap the benefits that come with them.
Risk is a part of success. It is a natural progression of growth. When the time is right, don’t be afraid to take that risk.
Road work - The extra rounds, the early morning miles. In short you’re doing everything necessary to reach your goals and dreams. Organized and specific.
Roadwork - The more you do it, the easier it becomes. Because sometimes the body has to catch up with the mind. And once it does, eventually the body and mind both accepts it as routine.
The greatest thing about the roadwork is how it positively affects your confidence and give you that ability to dig deeper and perform in high pressure situations.
Your goals combined with sheer determination and roadwork can deliver you to your dreams. But what separates a champion from a contender, a winner from a loser? It’s self esteem.
And this is what makes your focus, your goals, your determination and roadwork critical. Because they have tremendous impact on your self esteem, which can be nurtured, shaped and grown. To an extent of rather than you pulling it along, it starts to pull you along. Then soon you will be completely confident in your decision making as you target new and greater heights.
Due to my training and my belief within myself, I took what could’ve been a serious negative, turned that into a positive which became a victory.
If you don’t believe in yourself, no one else will.
No matter who it is, no matter what it is, always believe in yourself.
The fights (in life) never really go away. They only change as the stakes get higher or lower. And sometimes we must fight every day for what we believe in and for what we want.
What makes the average anything but average? Not winning per se, but what it takes to become a winner. I’m talking about that frame of mind. That frame of mind that takes you there. Take boxing for example. The winner in that fight is the one who is able to take more courage and determination into that ring.
Just imagine the obstacles and hurdles you can overcome in life if you took the same qualities of that confident boxing champion and applied them to your every day life.
It’s all about dreaming the dream. But having a plan that turns the dream into a true reality. The key is to always, always try to attain it. But you gotta have that blueprint. You gotta have that plan that turns that dream into a reality.
Always continue being a fighter, be number one and keep your guard up.
