Gym refuses to adjust the bench press for my manlet arms.

Feels bad.

Right now when i stretch my arms, the barbell hits the hooks since it's attached too high. So i can't put it back.
Also the only way for me to unrack it is by doing half a crunch to move myself up from the bench, which only works with super light weights.

Sent them an email. They said they tried benching themselves to see the problem and didn't experience the problem.
Yeah no chit. If you have long arms, of course it won't be a problem.
Back to dumbbells only brahs.

Couldn't you drag a bench into a power rack and just bench in the power rack?

I rack the top hooks with no problems, OP.

I once allowed a manlet to work in with me and the little runt racked to the middle. Talk about uncomfortable to unrack. Maybe try DBs instead of ruining it for everybody?
"The manlet is a savage beast that knows no moral bound. After falling in disgrace to a manmore, a ravaged manlet would not hesitate to come from behind and land a sucker punch/ swing with a rock to the back of a manmore's head. They are ruthless and you need to spend some more time in the gutter to even begin trying to comprehend what goes on in their minds."

All we have is a squat rack. It might work, not sure. It does suck to put in the extra effort to set it up but it's a good idea.
I see people putting a bench under the smith machine all the time, so i doubt anyone would complain if i occupy the squat rack, especially since there are 2 of them.
Good suggestion!

They do. But unracking it and racking it from the bottom ones suck since you're basically doing half a press rep to get it in starting position with the arms locked out, pushing it up from a weird angle because the other hooks are straight above it. i don't want to get an injury. With heavier weights it's a bad idea.

All they have to do is put it 1 hole lower. Since it's adjustable, i don't see the problem.
But they just said the manufacturers instructed them to put it there so they won't budge.

any yoga mats in your gym? It could prop you up that extra inch to allow you to unrack the bar

does the bench only have one rack? Usually most commercial gym benches have two sets of racks. But the lower one is usually for uber manlets or if somebody needs to bail. As mentioned try bringing in a bench and benching in a squat rack.

Only very thin mats. Like half an inch. I'd have to get a whole stack since you sink into them with enough weight on your chest.
Also not sure how safe it would be sliding off wise, if there's like 5 mats stacked on top of the bench.

We only have 1 bench unfortunately. My cousin goes to a gym that has 2 benches, that even come forward so you can unrack the barbell in a straight line.
But his gym is small, crowded af and anything you want to use has a line of 2-3 people waiting for it. So i didn't go there.

Lost a bit of sympathy for you brah, I'll be honest-- just a little bit though. The power racks we have at my gym have those safeties that cannot be moved and if I want to do full ATG front squats, I end up hitting them. Just gotta learn to live with it. For example, I just do the squats outside the rack if I'm working on that lift. I've pressed off those pegs, it's only a bit inconvenient for the setup in my opinion.

Maybe there’s a middle school that will let you use their weight room?

yikes

the only thing I can really say is to use the uber manlet hooks, but position further down the bench so you're not bending your elbows as much to unrack or at risk of hitting the top hooks. It takes a bit of practice to unrack but it is doable. So you're basically doing a partial range of motion of a skull crusher. To make racking slightly easier as well, depending on the shape of the hooks you can insert plates inside each of them, then place the bar so it is resting against the plates if that makes sense, it'll be less distance to unrack.

Only thing I can really say is to make due with what you have. There are ways around it but if you're not comfortable doing it then stick with dumbbell benching. Maybe do incline benching instead? Some incline benches you can adjust the seat higher so you can unrack, or maybe use a plate to prop yourself up slightly.

Floor pressing in a power cage also isn't the worst idea in the world either. It's less range of motion and more tricep dominant but if you have manlet arms you'll probably have it close enough to your chest to get a good effect. Minimal set up as well.

Yes this works. sometimes my cousin lifts with me since the gates are always open and no one checks if you're actually scanning your reservation with the phone app.
So he basically lifts for free without a membership.
But he only lifts once every 2 weeks with me. So i can't rely on him on a weekly basis. Don't know anyone else in the gym either.

In my old gym if i did a PR or just a last set, i would ask for a spotter. But i would hate to ask someone to spot me for 4 sets.
Some guy used to ask me that and it always rustled my jimmies. Cuz who wants to spot for 4 sets when you want to lift yourself?
