Younger Thai generation want democracy and an end to the absolute power of the monarchy and their corrupt officials. Monarchy are desperate to hold on to their power, army and police will side with whoever has the most coin because the generals are in bed with the corrupt politicians.

Thailand is a really cool place, but it will be interesting to see what happens in the future. Nobody seems super well off there, but there's also not a ton terrible poverty like there is in other Asian countries. I feel like moving to a Democracy would get rid of some of the more hilarious things about it, but who knows. It might also be less of a craphole in places.

I’ve had some of the best times of my life in Thailand, but the respect for the royal family died with the king a few years ago. The worshipping/punishments for not going along with it need to stop.
