We live in a time where people are almost compulsive in oversharing information they do not need to give you.

Speak less, and when you speak, be brief. There is very rarely value in showing all your cards to anyone.

As I left the gym I gave a quick nod and wave to the front desk girl who then said "Thanks have a nice night". I didn't say anything back and kept on walking.

I agree at the same time, being silent in the face of insanity, madness, injustice, etc.. only allows it to continue unchecked.
