What is the final verdict on CrossFit misc?

I would never do it,but I know a few people that do,seems to get them in really lean shape which is impressive, but the gainz seem to lack considering the amount of work they put in,so is it just a great way to stay in shape? Or is it trash?

Works well for untrained people for the first 6 months then people stagnant because lack of programming and progression.

I remember reading a study about how group class fitness is getting people in the door. Expecting them to leave after about 6-12 months.

Exercise selection is great, will get you very fit and decently strong over time. Seen it myself many times. Bloatlord in uni started crossfit two years ago having never trained before, now he's doing ring muscle ups, handstand push ups and 120kg clean and jerks on insta. Very impressive.

If your main goal is aesthetics its not the way to go but it is great for 'functional' fitness if the programming is tweaked to be more intelligent and you keep a strength bias

Yeah my main goal is aesthetics and most don't put on the muscle that I would like, lean but not the type of physique I'd want personally

Obviously isn't optimal or near it for bodybuilding.

I thought Zack Telander (youtube oly lifting dude) had a pretty good summary of it: It's fun and a way to get mediocre at a bunch of things, but its programming is kinda retarded - you'd be way better off specializing in chunks than going with crossfit's dumb progressions and programming.

Also the pullups are ghey.

A guy on YouTube named ObeseToBeast went from 360 pounds to 200 pounds, then switched to CrossFit. He didn’t lose the weight with CrossFit, but he made videos of himself doing it, and it looked fun. For him, it was an auxiliary workout, his main workout was bodybuilding done at another time of day at a different gym, and CrossFit was his second workout of the day.

Anyone here heard of this guy? He mainly gets in fights with healthy at any size people, and tries to discredit them, so I stopped watching most of his videos. Too much drama.

Anybody itt who wants to do 'crossfit style' training but in a smarter and more effective way, I'd reccomend these books:

FIT by lon Kilgore
Tactical Barbell 1 and 2

The programs that they have you work from in these books do crossfit better than crossfit imo

If you wanna do more gymnastics too check out 'overcoming gravity' by Stephen low
