Anyone Get Their Appendix Out? (Srs)

Just spent 2 days in hospital cuz Ive been having bad stomach pain on and off.
They didnt know what it was at first, doctor was retarded. But then he was like, we could do an ultrasound to see if something is wrong with your appendix.. but I bet its not that, very unlikely.
So I was like, yeah, lets do it. I didnt wait for 9 hours to go home with no diagnosis.
So I did it and they found some swelling or some **** on my appendix and offered to do surgery that same night and cut me open, which they did. Apparently its a useless organ but who knows. Google said it, so I just went through with it if it would get rid of my problem.

Finally finished staying at hospital and they gave prescription for pain killers which I didnt think id need..
but now at home, thinkin I should have.

anyone go through this and have an idea of how long the recovery is. Or just when the pain stops?

I had mine removed a while ago after it got infected and became inflamed. Luckily they got it out before it “burst”.

I don’t specifically remember the recovery process. The day after was the worst for me though. I couldn’t piss and they wouldn’t let me out of the hospital until I did.

My nuts turned black and blue as blood drained into them. It wasn’t a super big deal though.

Beyond that, I don’t recall how long any pain or discomfort lasted. That being said, I’m not sure why anyone who was prescribed a medicine from their doctor wouldn’t get it filled. That seems weird to me.

Yes, back in 1996. Felt like a muscle strain but more intense.

It sucked. I'm sure it's better now with modern medicine.

Yes when I was in grade 3, so 1996 I think?

Did not hurt that much & surgery was painless and minimal pain after, had to spend 3 days after and couldn't leave until I ****.
Now I have a 2" scar and when people ask I just say I was stabbed.

Had mine removed about 2 years ago laparoscopically. Initial pain was about a week, residual pain about 2, stopped hurting while benching after about 6-9 months (srs). Every time I benched for the first 6 months it felt like something was about to rip. Other than that, no real issues.

I had mine removed when I was 6, it felt like a stomach cramp for a week, by week 2 i was recovered i believe.

They gave it to me to keep, it looked like a piece of rolled up toilet paper lol.


Just do it, its useless, google it and literally no one knows what it does

Damn so many people having their appendix removed. What type of pain is it where you even go to the hospital?

Was your stomach pain bad OP? Or just annoying and figured you'd get it checked out?

Luckily I've never had surgery or any major medical issue besides getting my wisdom teeth out lol

Had mine out in the early 90's.

Threw up continuously for half a day, finally got to sleep and then woke up with pain and not able to walk.

Gnarly scar and felt like I had to learn how to walk all over again. Probably a two week recovery with the 1st week not being able to do much of anything.

I had mine removed when I was 17. I started kind of started having a stomach ache while at work one morning, eventually it got so bad that I needed to sit down. I tried to eat a bagel and ended up puking it up immediately. I went home around 10am to rest and it progressively got worse throughout the day. I could not eat or drink without puking it up within minutes. I did not sleep that night and by the morning was dehydrated and the pain was relentless. Went to the urgent care and they told me to go to Emergency right away as my appendix was going to burst at any time.

No but I’ve had extreme 9/10 abdominals pain that sounds almost exactly like appendicitis symptoms at various points in my life. Always went away after a few hours though so I never saw a doctor about it. In for answers.

It’s excruciating. If you feel this level of pain, you know something is ****ed and you need medical attention. No question about it. I doubt anyone would feel this pain and just try to get over it on their own.

Like 5 years ago. Mine did almost burst because I had gotten food poisoning back-to-back the two months prior to my appendix becoming infected, so I didn't initially think much of the lower abdominal pain. I didn't go to the hospital until I was unable to move from the pain.

General pain fades after about a week. Worst pain for me was pissing due to the catheter, that **** burned like hell for a few days. The ****ty part was that i really couldnt lift for about 3-4 months. Every time i tried, it felt awful.

Mine exploded when I was 17. Was during the dog days of two a days in football, and I was about 240 or so but started gassing out hard and losing weight and strength for no reason. Thought it was overtraining turned out to be a ruptured appendix(likely from football hits lol) that had gone on too long.

Long story short the stay in the hospital lasted nearly two weeks and I lost about 70lbs in that time span. Absolutely absurd, easily the closest Ive ever been to death. Cut my whole stomach up.

Last year I got a stomach ache. It was real dull, felt kinda like those cramps that come with diarrhea, but I had no diarrhea. I KNEW right away it was my appendix, for some reason. I just phucking knew that's what it was. I tried to ignore it, even told a friend"Man I think I got stomach poisoning or something"in hopes that was what it was. But I knew it was appendicitis.

The pain got worse and worse. I tried to sleep it off, but it was just such a constant pain, slowly escalating. My mom gets home, and I go "I think my stomach is fukced up." She offers to drive me to the ER, I refuse. "It'll pass." Then I start vomiting. She finally convinces me to get taken in. The drive in, it starts getting REAL bad. By the time I get to the ER it's just beyond comprehension how fukcing bad it hurt. Kept running to the bathroom and vomiting. Finally they admit me, give me painkillers. Worst pain I've ever experienced in my life, just indescribable agony. I say "I think it's my appendix." They run tests, come back. "You're right."

I was out within 24 hours. Made it home to watch the Game of Thrones episode where Dani lays waste to King's Landing, all perced outta my mind. The recovery is a b!tch, your gut looks pregnant for a few days. Appendix pain was the worst pain in my life. The post-surgery pain wasn't even as bad, but it was also pretty rough. Rhabdo was also severe, right up there but not QUITE as bad.

Recovery shouldn't take too long, but you're way older.

The doctor suspected it was a possibility but didnt think so because I was handling it well while I was with him.
He was an idiot though and was like "I bet you $100 it isnt that, but we can do the scan anyways"

It was really quick though. I remember they were talking to me in the surgery room and put the gas on me and then woke up and looked at the clock and it was only an hour later and was wondering if they started yet and they said "hi nicholas, so your appendix is out". Surgeon guy later talked to me and said it only took him 18 minutes and it was the easiest thing ever.

Im currently able to sit at my pc which is kind of promising. Can take a tylenol if pain comes.. or go get the ********s if it doesnt improve it.
didnt want to get something strong because they gave me morphine at the Er and I started seeing stars and was sweating like crazy. Was scared tbh.
its only like 28 hours since, so the 3 incisions still cant be completely closed.
Afraid to cough or sneeze cuz it feels like stomach will rip each time.
but even 9 months later you feel off? scary. Good thing i havent been into lifting for a while.

Its a lower right side of your stomach pain. Either sore in general or sore to the touch. Ive had it 3 times in the past 3 months.
the first was pretty bad and lasted for a week but I just dealt with it.
2nd time I thought was food poisoning but now dont know. Stomach pain followed by vomiting 12 times in the first day and then dizziness for a week.
then 3rd time sunday night. I knew I didnt want to deal with it again and wanted a solution. I am not a doctor or medicine person usually, always try to deal with it on my own but went finally.

Lol so i work in this field directly, i'm the kunt that does the ultrasounds. A true appendicitis is very black and white on ultrasound, aka it either is or it isn't. A true raging appendicitis doesn't back down, and will cause inflammation of the structures surrounding the appx (usually fat), and we do a test on that region called McBurney's point where if you have a positive rebound tenderness, it's 100% the appx causing your pain.

The way you described how they saw your appx is what we call an 'equivocal appendix'. It's neither here nor there, it may be an early appendicitis or a grumbling appendix etc. Because it's not a 100% normal appendix, they can't call it normal, but because it's not a typical appendicitis, they offer the surgical option.

Basically if the symptoms improve post appendicectomy, they just blame it on the appx and move on. But sometimes (rarely), the cause wasn't the appendix and you go back to square 1 unfortunately. Medicine is just ruling things out, from most likely/serious to least likely.

But common things happen commonly, and if your appx wasn't 100% normal, it likely was the cause of pain and you should start feeling better within a week
