Justice Department to File Landmark Antitrust Case Against Google

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Justice Department is expected to file a lawsuit Tuesday alleging that Google has been abusing its online dominance in online search to stifle competition and harm consumers, a person familiar with the matter told The Associated Press.

My concern is because the government is so ****ing incompetent, they **** this case up, google wins, and then there is a precedent for Google to shoot down future cases.

Or: CT time: government intentionally ****s the case up so google has protection in the future.

People said the same thing about the 19th century robber barons. Maybe this does go nowhere but we have to try something not just laid down and take it

good luck. Google has more lawyers than most companies have employees.

They'll be fine.

I'll be the devil's advocate I guess. If the American government is bringing a case against a private business, you better believe they are going to come correct. Yes the government is incompetent, but lawyers are not the government and that's who's going to be fighting this battle. I bet this ends with Google being forced to sell off parts of their empire and stop acting like an index service and act like a publishing organization instead. I.e. they'll be required to stop all this censorship bullchit-- that's what all this is about at the end of the day.

Phucking good. They are a bunch of spineless jellyfish and the only way to get them to act right is to butt phuck them in a court of law. So be it.

Cot dam I love American justice.

EDIT: past butt phuckings of big business at the hands of the US government--

At most it will be a huge (to us normies) fine which will simply prevent some lower management from getting a stupid ass Christmas bonus. Won’t hurt the company in any meaningful way. Just like Apple.

If DOJ wins, good that Google won’t have a monopoly on what news results you see when you search in the US.

Bad news is that we are now competing at a global scale and this opens up international companies to be the global leader including ones from CCP.

I amended my post with some historical examples of comparable cases. If they were just going dick slap them with a fine, they wouldn't be taking the matter to antitrust court. Trump is a spiteful motherphucker. He's going for broke homeboy.

False. Google is likely just going to be forced to opensource their indexing algorithms and be exposed to lawsuits from third-parties when they use biased practices to deliver results.

No one is going to shutter the Google project, they just can't blatantly edit the content they deliver based on their *******y political views anymore.

^ Too close to the truth here.

Google has bought off politicians and bureaucrats and high ranking officers in the Pentagon for years now. There are many ways to do this. The old way of doing crony capitalism by dropping off briefcases full of money (e.g., ABSCAM) has been replaced. Just look into Joe Biden and Hunter Biden's e-mails and you can easily see how money exchanges hands in "legal" ways that allow big companies to dictate governmental policies and secure governmental contracts.

Brin and Page are crony capitalists. We all should have worried why a little search engine company in the 90's had a corporate motto of "don't be evil". We should have worried more in the 00's when they dropped that motto completely.
