Is Switching From Alcohol to Medicinal MJ worth it?

I've noticed my alcoholism has grown A LOT over the years, to the point of it being a near-daily behavior. I haven't smoked since I was back in college, but now it's medically legal I was thinking about attempting a medical license. Do you guys think it's a wise switch? Probably save a lot of empty Calories, and save my liver.

probably. weed is a lot safer than alcohol. The goal should be to remain sober though. Why are you self medicating?

True, but they're both entertaining/enhancing/distracting in their own ways.

The intent would be to combat alcoholism and maybe see if it improves any anxiety I have. Beyond that it's a way to have more fun in the moment.

MJ is so much lesser of an evil. It’s also cheaper and can be consumed in ways that negate the health impacts, like vaporizing it

Might not help anxiety thought depending on how you react (and how heavily you dose)

What do you mean "switching"? Strong implication that you have to be using some kind of drug at all times.

You could also give up drinking and not replace it with another vice.

On a serious note, weed increased my anxiety ten fold. Everyone reacts differently. Not taking either would be best obviously
Use to drink and smoke like crazy in my teens. Good times but also bad times lol

i think you should stop depending on substances to "fix" your problems and talk to a professional about what's causing them

MJ>alcohol in every sense when it comes to health and addiction worries. You aren’t gonna withdrawal from thc ANYTHING close to like you would with alcohol if it ever came to that. The way I like to keep my medications is I think about what if there was a natural disaster and I couldn’t get it, should I be taking it.

That being said I enjoy alcohol too. I just don’t drink daily because it’s really a fine line to walk for some.
This body holding me, be my reminder here that I am not alone.

That's not true, I know heavy dabbers who took years to finally stop smoking. I personally use to smoke 1-3g/day and I had withdraws too..

When I quit weed and just drink for fun I gain weight. Soon as I start smoking weed again my body leans out. I gained 20 pounds after quitting weed for a year and a half. Weed stabilizes your appetite(when not high) and has other metabolic benefits.

When I was in the states, I drank a lot less because of legal weed and edibles.

If I had access to legal weed, I would never smoke it and just eat edibles exclusively. So straight away, that would be a benefit to my health because my lungs would thank me.

I still enjoy alcohol, but legal weed would reduce my alcohol consumption.

The end.
