I mainly use Fiverr to hire freelancers. Pretty cheap prices as well. I've only paid about $1,000 in the past year for freelance work that would've cost me at least 5 times as much outside of Fiverr. The quality and talent on there has increased in the last couple years too I noticed. I remember checking out Fiverr a few years ago and thinking it wasn't very legit, but I use it quite often now. There's still certain services where I can find better quality outside of Fiverr but it's definitely improved.

Holy chit. 1K? On what?

What makes it seem more legit now than in the past?
