Has anyone ever orbitted a magnet around another magnet?

Seems like a neat Physics 101 experiment...

1. Get a vacuum
2. Put magnet in center
3. Get students to shoot a magnet so it "falls into orbit" around the center (seems like something an Aerospace-engineer student would do right?)

There are a number of reasons why this won’t work. Mainly because magnetism is not the same as gravity and your environment does not match free space.

Magnetism is 100% the same as "gravity"

Yeah convineiently you can't actually orbit something on Earth (the only area that exists) because of friction

You never answered what I put in your last thread about Santiago to Sydney. Flat earthers can’t explain it.

Just because you dont understand something doesn't mean it is fake. No one can explain at what point organic chemistry becomes life and how this happens yet we know life exists. It doesnt mean life isnt real.

In space the only major force something orbiting would see is gravity pulling it towards the planet. Sure all the other planets pull on it too but that effect is very small.

Two objects with opposite charges on the earth, trying to set one in orbit, it is going to have gravity of the earth pulling down on it, so that and the electromagnetic force. It wont stay in orbit, it will fall. Maybe if you had control of the electromagnetic field and could alter it so you can counter out the effects of gravity and get it to rotate vertically or perpendicular to the earth. Like when its above the magnet its pusing away and below the magnet actually pulls a bit to counter act gravity. maybe you could get it to work.

That's a good idea at the end to have magnets below it to make it levitate... Then all you need is to take the air out of the chamber...
