Are protein powders/supplements really necessary?
What say you misc. Are they worth the money and do they really make a significant difference in terms of gains or is it all just clever marketing?
“Steroids is now just a word that the lazy and ignorant use to describe any guy that has more muscle and dedication than them”– Mike O'Hearn
"I am like getting the feeling of cumming in the gym; I'm getting the feeling of cumming at home; I'm getting the feeling of cumming backstage; when I pump up, when I pose out in front of 5000 people I get the same feeling, so I am cumming day and night. It's terrific, right? So you know, I am in heaven."

You will notice a difference in satiety and muscle retention using real food, serious. Protein powders for me atleast are not the same.

Protein powder is protein.
Supplements do what they are advertised to do.
They are not advertised as increasing gains. They are advertised as supplementing your exercise.
I only use protein powder and pwo.

Doubtful. I went a long period without using them at all.
Now I basically only use them if its in a recipe/to mix in with or complement some kind of food. I don't drink them though.
An example would be I usually make this pudding type shyt that can include (the ingredients vary but)
Protein Powder
Cocoa Powder
Coconut Flour
Almond Milk
Water
PB powder
Yogurt (usually some low carb high protein yogurt from Kroger)
Add or some subtract a couple ingredients + if you want to get more creative there are plenty of other things you could include.

necessary no, highly beneficial, yes.
Protein powder is protein, just a highly digestable high BCAA content complete protein.
Other supplements have lots of benefits without having to/being able to get them in food.
I use berberine and its one of my favotite most noticeable supplements, allows me to eat more carbs and not get fat and make sure glycogen gets replenished faster, also helps increase good cholesterol.
Fish oil helps me get in quality fats also for cholesterol and heart health without having to eat more fish than I do already.
Digestive enzymes help with digestive issues I have, like lactose intolerence.
Tumeric helps with inflammation.
Carditone helps a lot with blood pressure without having to be on BP meds.
Magnesiums bisglycinate helps with more quality sleep and recovery when sleeping.
EAAs help intra workout to be able to keep long workouts from using muscle amino acids as energy.

I can’t afford to get enough protein from food, so I buy whey protein. It really makes a difference for me, I’m trying to lose weight and it’s easier to do that on a high protein diet.
