Why are people so afraid to seek professional help

These forums won't answer your cries for help, there's no shame in seeing a psychologist/therapist.

Celebrities see them with some good reason but seriously think about it. CELEBRITIES living a life of wealth and fame even get professional help.

IMO even if you have no issues what so ever, if you can afford it, I'd still go. Why not? Sometimes it's just about seeing things from a different point of view. A professional point of view.

And I mean psychs that are good at what they do. No BS time wasters

Maybe I'd rather dance with the devil, instead of confront them.

a lot of reasons.. not wanting to confront the problem, not admitting/thinking they have a problem, 'stigma' of therapy, not thinking they deserve help etc

not a simple answer if someone truly needs to see a professional and isnt just a Bidencel having a meltdown over an impending trump 2nd term.

I can't deny that. Good point. I guess that's probably the major issue. Even once a month helps though and it wouldn't be hard to sacrifice something to save the money every week. I do hear you though

Ye tbh I could use one. Just so I can vent to said dude and just shoot the chit with him..

I had two therapist both kinda cut me off

The first one I actually liked until he tried get me to take an ssri and then cut me off when I firmly said nah. Dude legit said he wouldn’t take me anymore lmao.. he said I was a narcissist but I’m kinda not I was just shooting the chit with him

I wouldn’t mind payin a redpilled therapist just to shoot the chit with and vent

Some red pill therapist are cool asf but rare to find

Funnily, I only encounter people like myself once a year at most.

The thing that I always think when people say help is available or encourage it, is they are assuming that the so called “help” actually helps. From my experience of seeking help and trying several avenues, none actually helped and actually made me feel frustrated and in effect worse. So one thing is that they may have tried, it didn’t work and don’t want to try again. Or they havent tried and just instinctively know it wouldn’t work

I get told to see a therapist by so many people on here and I have seen 4 therapists in my life and tried dozens of medication. It isn't magic.

It's going to get worse because there are efforts to make medical records accessible by government/law enforcement. Use it to convict you before you "do something" and take your guns, restrict your rights. Another aspect is that so often they just want to put you on pills and that opens a whole new dimension of issues.

because it'll take you like 200 hours just to get them out of their bluepilled delusions. it's like trying to discuss quantum physics with someone who does not understand basic math.

what's the point of delusional therapist that lies to himself? Plus, any mental weakness will be used instantly to take away your rights.

I've heard people suggest the ideas of seeing a therapist as though it's some sort of magic. It's not. At the end of the day, it's someome talking at you as you talk at them. Maybe it can do some good for some people, and in cases where it is, then good for them. To me, 90%+ of what even the better ones have to offer could probably be found in any self-help book, which again, is a concept with a very limited scope as to what it can accomplish.

However, at least from my perspective, I don't really see how it would be very useful. There is only so much that talking to someone can do in a practical sense. If someone really just needs different perspectives on life or some chit, then I guess maybe a good therapist could help a lot. However, if the issues are practical ones such as someone feeping socially isolated 24/7, the real answer for those people is to actually find what they are missing for real - in that case, seeking out healthy social interactions.

Then there is the issue of a lot of them pushing meds. I'd actually play devil's advocate on this one and say that I don't disagree with them 100% of the time like much of the misc does. At the end of the day, you won't be accomplishing much if you've spent like 100 hours+ talking to someone and never even try any medication. I mean what exactly are they gonna tell you in meeting #100 that they won't have touched on numerous times by that point?

Last but not least is the very practical issues of access to it. Seeing a therapist is expensive as all hell, and most insurances either won't cover it, or will stick you with a decent bill one way or the other. Talking to one for 30 minutes can easily cost a few hundred bucks straight up before factoring insurance in. Hell, they'll pay a chit ton more for bs like chiropractors before they'll pay for therapists. Not to mention the very real issue of the government constantly trying to infringe on the rights of keeping medical records private so they can use any information from them against people even though they've never broken the law or made any claims of even considering it.

Maybe this is a pissening opinion, but I think modern "person-centered" psychotherapy is a load of phucking horsechit that does far more harm than good.

Most of the most morally depraved people I've ever talked to (almost all sloots) see a shrink weekly and from what I can tell, this person basically sits there and tells them to pursue whatever flavor-of-the-week validation they happen to be after at that exact moment with no regard to the long-term consequences in the name of "self-care".

Want to phuck 30 dudes because you just got dumped by Chad? You go girl "live in the now"
Tired of your parents hassling you to make something out of your life? Cut off the people who raised you completely with no second thoughts to "strengthen your support network of positive influences"
Bored of your husband/wife and/or kids? Just divorce the sumbish and take a 3-month "sabbatical" in Europe. If they really love you, they'll support your decision to abandon your family because "your mental health is essential"

Cliffs:
- there are probably good therapists but the majority of them are charlatan snake oil salesmen who will help you justify whatever selfish behavior you pay them to.

99% of our problems today are created by poor diet, poor sleep, lack of exercise and excessive consumption of vices.

Unless you have a legit chemical or otherwise physical imbalance there’s nothing they can do.

Too much societal stigma.
Most men don’t even want a therapist I’d say, just a solid close friend they could talk to or shoot the chit with about anything.

You realize most people don’t give a fukk about you and even then, for the vast majority a lot of friends aren’t really there when ya need em. Even the ones that are, life happens, people move on and then you can’t see eachother as much.

Why do you think these celebs who have access to the best care in the world, still end up ending it?

I’m headed down the road to alcoholism but therapy wouldn’t really help me. I have a bunch of friends for sure and ones that would help me out in a fight np, but Not really the dear diary type.
