Thinking about my teenage daughter this morning and that (things being what they are) it would probably make sense for her to just get a GED and start some kind of career related training instead of rotting in my ex's basement.

Looks like most states are very restrictive about people under 18 getting a GED because they say it is detrimental for children to miss out on "the high school experience".

If we don't have a working widely available vaccine (or treatment) by next school year then this needs to change IMO.

She says she wants to be a mortician so no worries really about GPA or test scores. Not everyone wants that college life.

Said it before, but I seriously believe that US public education needs to be reformed. Compulsory general education through 8th graderequiring an exit test to demonstrate minimum levels of competency(so some kids might be in general ed longer), then let kids move into a trade program or college prep/community college on the public dime presuming they meet requirements for getting in.

One size does not fit all.
