Anyone doing any last minute preparing ?

With the election coming up and the likely roll out of "Covid-21" and these words they keep using like "dark winter", "new normal", and "build back better" I'm making some last minute purchases. I hope nothing bad happens but it is better to be safe.

Things I bought

- yesterday I got 3 more months worth of canned food and packaged food, and supplies like soap, bleach, sponges, garbage bags, etc.
So I have a year+ worth. I might take inventory tomorrow and write down everything I have.

-A second monitor.
Gonna be doing a lot of computer stuff for online classes and work and learning things on my own so I have a second monitor coming today I ordered to make things easier. I might also stream on Dlive at night if there are riots. I'll find videos from twitch and youtube and put them on the screen and broadcast them.

-a camera for my raspberry pi and an empty "dummy" security camera
Gonna put this raspberry pi zero with the camera inside this fake camera and put it up. Gonna have it on local wifi and point it towards my front door and my truck. Ended up being a lot cheaper than buying one already made and I dont have to pay to access my videos. I'll have it record motion detection clips on a spare computer set up as a server. Will be able to access live camera video remotely if needed and also from my computer at home.

-6 months of cat food and litter

-filled my truck with gas.

Those are just the last minute things I ended up doing. I plan on leaving the house once to vote and never again for a while after that.

Where did you get ammo and how much did it cost? I saw some and was debating to pay $0.60 /round and it sold out by the next day. Now I see cheapest at $1 per round.

I already have self defense and dont have the need for another rifle. Can only shoot one rifle at a time usually. Could always use some more rounds though. They go faster than I though they would.

Edit: just saw you said ar10 I was talking about 556

Yeah I put together a raspberry pi camera for like $20 and put it inside the dummy camera case $5 and hot glued it and ran a wire through my soffit (sp?) into my garage to plug it in.

That's why the thread says "last minute" preparing. Like getting some extra stuff last minute before zero oclock.

lol no. No need yet. Covid is fake news. Trump winning isn't going to cause civil unrest.

Sorry. Reading what I wrote, I probably came across a bit of a dick.

I'd recommend some extra 5 gallon cans if you have a place to store it. I saw a 4 pack on Amazon a bit ago for like $75, its $79 now but still a good dealhttps://www.amazon.com/Midwest-Can-5...dp/B00DW4YLLK/My local walmart has some 5 gallon cans for $19, but they're usually sold out
And treat them with Sta-bil fuel treatment

That's a good idea. I might pick up maybe two of the 5 gallon tanks locally. I bought some online a long time ago and I think the crease where they took the two halves of the cans and thermal bonded them or however they manufacture them was flawed. It had a slow leak of gas coming from the crease so I would want to look at the cans next time before I buy them. My truck has a 360 mile range on a full tank if traffic isn't backed up. And there is a large national forest within 60 miles of me if we ever had a true mad max style shtf but my end goal would be to make it to the midwest where I have extended family that owns a farm.

It's also a good idea to keep a bag of tools and jumper cables or a battery bank for starting the vehicle and maybe a small $15 air compressor that plugs into your cig lighter and a few of those plugs for tires in the vehicle.

I have a few plastic totes and an alice pack full of food and supplies if I ever need to throw some stuff into my truck and leave with the quickness.

In september 2017 there was a hurricane coming and they predicted 15 foot storm surge for my neighborhood. Everyone was panicking and there was no gasoline available for 5 days before it was due to hit. People were filling up 5 gallon buckets with gas srs. The state police had to escort fuel trucks in and people were shooting each other over gas and plywood at home depot. ATMs were out of cash. Stores were all out of water and food. I evacuated to GA and the traffic was so bad it took me 15 hours to drive what should have only taken 6 hours. There was only one gas station that had fuel and I was lucky to get it before I hit E. People act nuts and if anything bad happens it is scary how people can be.

If you have a Truck or a large SUV, its good to own a hydraulic jack or two plus some stands to change tires. Or even if you own a car, this makes tire changing a snap (though just bulky to store in the vehicle). Its meant for use on cement, but I've used it several times on dirt when I had to

I have this, was ~$30 for the set black friday a couple of years ago
