I mean, it's normal to feel some sadness when a relationship fails for any given reason. The longer it lasted and the more vested one was in it (such as marriage/having kids), the more a breakup is going to suck, especially for a guy who gets dumped.
Having said that, I will never understand guys who try "win back" broads who broke up with them regardless of the circumstances. Being saddened by it for a time is one thing, but why would anyone want to put so much thought and effort into impressing someone who made it clear they decided they now viewed them as worthless by kicking them to the curb? Even if a guy did "win back" an ex-gf, he'd be stuck dealing with the awkardness of it all for as long as he stayed with her for another round. She'd also view the dude as a doormat loser forever even if she didn't admit it.
