I usually listen to podcasts or youtube vids. I never saw the benefit in listening to 30 seconds of power chord music or chitty rap to get me pumped up. Learn something and lift, kill 2 birds with one stone.

OP why don’t you just try it out and see for yourself? It wouldn’t be that hard to do.
Next time you’re at the gym, instead of playing music, listen to a audio book on YouTube for free.
You’re going to get a lot of mixed answers here.

I always listen to audio books while I jog, but during my workout?
Speaking for myself, I don't think so.
But for you, it depends on your priority. Lifting or audio books which comes first?

Wouldn't be able to concentrate on an audiobook for more than a few minutes. I'm thinking about my next set, next exercise or filling out my workout log with new rep count or weight lifted.
If I get sick of music, I put on some youtube vids. I lose concentration still but sometimes that's better than blaring music if it's been a long day
