US Brahs - When Is The Election Likely To Be Decided? (SRS)

A lot of news sites are saying it *could* take days or weeks, but I also know that, if certain states are won by either Trump or Biden, it's all over. So when are we likely to get a result by, given how certain states tend to vote? What's it hanging on and when will those states have decided by? Srs.

For your time:

If only there was some consolidated thread that discusses all aspects of the topic in great detail including this exact conversation.

Too bad we just have to resort to using a stick to getting bugs out of a log.....

It will most likely be decided in the courts. Nobody knows how long that will take.

Well yeah but everyone has a different opinion on that mate, and I wanted an abbreviated version and not the usual chitstorm. Try to stay out of R & P threads for this reason.

Besides, I wanted an excuse to post this gif:

And I know this is crazy and nearly impossible....

What if they are actually....

Hehehe. It is hard for me to even finish this thought because of how insane it is.....

What if they are simply just waiting for all the votes to be counted?

If it was about counting actual votes, PA wouldn't have stopped a couple hours in.

Is it actually possible to fraud postal votes to the degree necessary to swing the vote? Not too familiar with the details of the American election system.

Honestly we might have the official results on Thursday or Friday due to Pennsylvania's stance of counting Mail-In's starting today and there's like 1.4 Million of those. Figure a winner will be decided Thursday and then it will go to a whole legal battle/recount.

If Biden does win Penn based on mail-ins, those will be triple checked and probably even do a sample checking of suspicious ballots from people who voted, like checking to see if they voted to begin with. But mail-in ballots are heavily tied to Biden since Trump came out before the election and said mail-in ballots were false. I do know they were sweeping the postal system across the country to ensure that all ballots were tracked and marked, leaving even more little room for there to be a discrepancy in the vote count.

IMO fraud isn't that easy. The most possible would be the discard of votes by postal employees based on the historical voting pattern of a given area.

Once votes are in the counting process there is usually a system in place with representatives from both parties overseeing the counting to assure a fair result.

And it will be Friday late at the earliest as a few states have said it will take them that long to count.

So of course the candidates and the institutions that support them have grasp at the legal straws and try everything.

But I feel like whatever result is called when the votes are counted, will end up becoming reality.

Do you think the legal reviews will change anything?

Thanks man. How come Penn is allowed to start counting mail-ins today if they need the result in ASAP though?

That's true yeah - I suspect Biden will win based on the mail-ins.

There really is no rule as to when you can start, and there has NEVER been a firm count of votes on the night of the election. The media with their political analysts can make educated decisions as to who wins what states based on the numbers. This year though with corona, there's been a massive amount of mail-ins/early voting which has skewed the numbers from the get-go. They did not allow anyone to count the results until the day of the election, probably to avoid bias on election day. If Biden was in the lead on election day, then people might be more inclined to vote Biden because he's the "winner" at that point in time. Then on top of that, the mail-in ballots are being held to the side because those are what's going to be deciding this election it seems. So it seems like the safer bet to count the early in person voting, then count the election day in person voting. Then after all that done and the votes are packaged and sent to the election halls, they will start the mail-ins. They will have to open the envelope, look at the ballot, and then scan them individually. Then those votes will be set aside from the rest and no doubt be scrutinized for the next month.

The last big question was in 2000 with the chit show that is Florida. The voting process was a mess and it got to the point where they were individually by hand counting votes, which back then had the hole punched cards. Then there was an arugment about if the whole wasn't fully punched, how was it counted, then votes were found to have never been delivered, etc.

Nowadays, the voting process has changed. The safest method of voting is the type where you bubble in your vote, and then scan it through a machine. What happens is that you get an immediate vote based on the scan results, but now you also have a backup of the vote in the form of paper, which was never really had in 2000. So if this was to go to a legal dispute on the votes, then the recount would be far more easier than it was in 2020. You'd have the votes already tallied up, and then reviewing the ballots by hand would be easier since a bubbled circle is far more easier than a hole punched card.

I remember it took a week or two with Bush/Gore in 2000. Sometimes it’s not an immediate thing.
