Warning from boss today, makes me feel anxious and unmotivated
- work from home due to covid 19
- boring office job , following up on government reports that they send to companies mainly
- pay is decent but nothing too special
- so yesterday I didn't get much sleep and woke up feeling burnt out , was having a hard time staying focused , etc ....still felt i did enough to get by
( they literally work me almost every single day ...as the place operates 7 days per week )
So mid way through today's shift the boss calls me up and said they've been looking at today's production and mine is down etc etc etc ( basically a warning for me to shape up)
Now I feel anxious, like they are constantly watching me . I didnt plan on spending too much time in this job, but figured I need it for now .
How can I deal with this sort of pressure of like perform well or start getting calls from management wondering why I'm not producing to their satisfaction. Thinking about quitting when work from home ends bc it was a lot worse from the actual office!
Someone talk some sense in me . Obviously I need to get a good sleep tonight and regroup
But when you have to work this job atleast 40 hours per week , I find it hard to stay consistent each and everday just out of the shear boringness and sometimes stress of it .
Thanks

What I personally recommend is: Improve enough at your job while searching HARD for something else that you will enjoy more. Keep them off your back by being an asset to the company, but on the low you're working hard towards something else. New job, starting your own side gig, etc.
Finding what you wanna do, working at a side business that has potential, or having a superior job lined up will completely eliminate the stress of being scolded by a boss srs because you know you'll survive

I'm going to assume you are already on the downslide at this gig. Which is fine, it happens almost without exception to even the best workers after 2-3 years. Then we let these retarts in middle management attack our self esteem lol.
If you haven't started shopping around for something new, start now.

And also yes got Middle management cracking down on me .
I'm on the downslide is right . So basically I just need to perform well enough to get by , and strongly look to go elsewhere .
When work from home ends it will get that much more taxing too . So I need to start looking for an OUT
I have savings but don't wanna just blow it all in between jobs etc but would at a last resort

Sometimes you need to read notes etc etc
So what I basically learnt from the call is that its quanity over quality (taking your time to make sure everything is aligned right )
Just go thru the cases as quick as possible to meet the average of other co workers
thank you . I needed to figure that out

The most unsettling periods of my own life have been when I made a major career change, whether that involved quitting medical school to pursue a career in business, relocating from San Francisco to London, or leaving the corporate world to start my own career consultancy. Make no mistake, career pivots involve more friction, disruption, and risk than simply staying on a more linear, traditional career path. Having experienced the emotional ups and downs of navigating career changes myself during the past two decades of my professional life, I’m now focused on understanding what it takes to successfully reinvent yourself. During the past few years as a career change consultant, I’ve spoken with hundreds of people navigating career changes, and I’ve personally interviewed over 50 individuals from 10 countries and five continents who have shared their personal stories of reinvention on my Career Relaunch podcast. Although they span a wide range of ages, backgrounds, industries, and roles, I discovered many common actions and beliefs that seem to separate individuals who manage pull off radical career changes from those who don’t. I pulled up to the house about 7 or 8. And I yelled to the cabbie 'Yo home smell ya later. I looked at my kingdom. I was finally there. To sit on my throne as the Prince of Bel Air.
It is the current year.

No idea what that feels like because I literally do 500% more work in a day than my 2 coworkers do in a week. Ridiculous to say the least.

No one gets a warning for an off day. You're productivity has probably been down since you started working from home and you're not being honest with yourself about it or the position it puts your company in when everyone is operating at 50-70% of normal.
Stop being a *******.

Then my boss ( middle management) ( female ) probably just coped out a bit on the call and said it was about today.
But with that being said I was having a particularly bad day . Got home late last night from some things I had to do and just burnt out . The schedule is hard core here man
But even if I was an " all star employee " ( unless I'm looking to move up to middle management) my pay would be the same there are no bonuses .
And my attendance is probably better than average there from what I hear around the office of ppl draining their sick time completely ( when my balance is in the hundreds of hours) , I think I need to start taking more sick days .
Ie if I had of called in sick today , I would have got no warning. As it comes with paid sick leave . What would the say ...I'm lying ?

Yeah, that would suck - and I've had some jobs like that.
I now work a federal job that is pretty damn tedious (though pays quite well), and its amazing how much slacking you can get away with. The tedium makes it very difficult to stay motivated. I slack A LOT, and am viewed as a good employee. They do monitor production/metrics to some extent, but nothing like some extremely shyt jobs that paid FAR less that I've had in the past.
The worst was when I was a "consultant" at a major Financial Firm/Broker Dealer. They were up your ass and monitored/recorded everything.
