Questions Below..

Looking to head there for a few months in the next week or 2. I'm in school, and its online, so I have freedom to go wherever, but prefer somewhere cheap and where I can solidify my fluency in Spanish.

If you have other suggestions on cities in Mexico, let me know. I did mildly look at Oaxaca, Guadalajara, and Playa Del Carmen. However, I prefer walkability.

I'm currently looking at areas around Chapultapec Park, Condensa, Roma, Polanco... Plenty of Airbnbs around $400/mo for a studio or 1br that have good ratings.

Questions...

1.Is it safe?It seems yes as long as you're in the right areas. I also won't be doing much nighttime stuff. Probably run in the park and gym if its open during the day plus general food and errand shopping... Maybe conversational spanish lessons in the city for a few hours a week. I have experience traveling solo to Rio de Janeiro, Columbia, Thailand, etc...street smarts are on point. Just wondering if there is anything out of the ordinary for a big city.

2.How expensive is food?I'm not going out much. The idea is to save $$..I'm pescatarian, and my diet is primarily rice, quinoa, tortillas, black beans, avocados, mushrooms, spinach, shrimp, salmon, sardines, non dairy/non soy milk + whatever cheat meals I decide to have. I prefer to buy grains in bulk if that means anything, and I am also used to NYC ridiculous food prices. Is <$.50/lb for rice/quinoa doable here? Avocados under a $1 each? How expensive is fish(Not for you UMadBroski)

3.Are gyms open?Mexico's c19#s look horrible and if other countries had their labeled deathrate, they would be shut down in an instant. I can always increase cardio if not, but I want to bulk, and have been removed from the gym for a while for living in NYC until about Sept this year.

4.How widely used are debit/credit cards?Are they accepted at chain supermarkets for example? I am not really trying to hold much cash unless there is no way around it. My Chase Sapphire Preferred has 0 foreign transaction fees so I prefer going that route for the majority of my purchases.

5.Water?Tap? Bottled? Cheap?
