Just LMAO @ Politics and Media

Imagine buying into defining yourself as either one of two things, and then taking it seriously enough to dominate your world view. Resenting other people and arguing with them about the current state of camp A or camp B, whichonlyserves to help you make one of two choices come election time in every democratic country worldwide: Pick Dikhead A or Dikhead B, because that's where the collective are going so you need to pick someone who you think will be less of a disaster.

Just LMAO

Just imagine spending literal cumulative years of your finite time on this earth listening to politicians spew carefully chosen and deliberately manipulative rhetoric written by teams of writers and then then committing a large portion of your limited cognitive capacity engaging in giving a fuk and getting upset about it.

Politicians don't give a fuk about you or humanity's future, they just care about getting into office for 4 years at a time and their legacy - and they will doanythingto make it happen.

I used to read the papers every day for years, be up-to-date on current affairs, who was who and what they were doing. I stopped at least 10 years ago and have since let the simps aware on me on things (cos' that's all that most people have to talk about other than sports and the weather), and if it sounds interesting I look it up.

Every time I pick up a paper or watch the news - it's exactly the same as it has always been, same chit different day.

I say this chit in every stupid fuking politics thread.

I’m so tired of American politics.

I’m in Canada and I don’t even seek it out.

We’re fuking bombarded with it. Twice a day in meetings at work, Bloomberg is on all day at work talking about it, it’s all anyone at work talks about as well

Go to a bar and of course it’s American politics

And this is fuking Canada

I never want to hear another word about Biden, BLM, antififa, BLM, trump etc

It’s the most unproductive, pointless thing to focus on just like writing in this thread and complaining about it is even worse so for that reason I’m out

Agreed op

Peace

I said I was out of the thread but ..

In terms of reading the news, every single day at work I have a conference call to go over articles regarding Canadian, European and American politics and economics and then one in the afternoon to go over chit that’s happened during the day. Everyone frivolously scribbles notes while I sit there thinking this is the biggest waste of time.

We keep track of certain metrics daily, for example oil prices. Then guys will get into the office and sift through articles on Bloomberg, wsj, ft etc.

I don’t understand the benefit of this at all. It seems like an information overload and like you’re reading for the sake of reading so you can appear intelligent snd informed. What is the tangible benefit?

All I do is at the end of every week, I will find a weekly macro update and simply read the executive summary. BRB just saved myself hours of sifting through pointless articles and am informed in 20 minutes and probably have a better understanding since I’m not trying to digest and make sense of 36 articles ive read that week but instead all I had to do was read 2-3 pages that summarizes the most important topics.

Politics media basically comes down to "this is what I think and what I want you to think"

Agreed

I never gave two ****s about politics until trump but I don’t take “leaning right” nearly as serious as the other *******s on this forum

I wasn’t even sure about trump until a month or two before the 2016 election.

Both sides are corrupt establishments that exploit us. It’s not D vs R , it’s the people vs the elite hence why they want trump gone.

That’s why he’s so popular , he’s been one of the best representatives of the union tradesmen, small business owner or the upper middle class white collar professional IE the common man we’ve had in decades.

He’s not bought out by corporations or lobbyists, he’s already filthy rich.

After trump is gone , whenever that is , I’ll probably completely tune out of US politics srs.

The jfk of our decade.

In the current state off affairs there is very little, if there was an actual viable party that that radically deviated form the historical 2 party tropes, SOMEHOW the collective got behind them and stuck it to the status quo then I think there would be immense benefit in being informed. But I don't think it will happen in my lifetime - I hope I'm wrong.

Sounds like a perfect way to manage it if you have to do it for work.

Cope. You think people are on social media at work all day?

They’re just lurking political media outlets

If you're stupid and don't understand politics beyond the two parties presented to you, I can see why you might think this.

This is why the vast majority should not be able to vote.
