In US the drinking age is 21 and has been for decades, so that is like half of the students arent even legally allowed to drink but they do anyways.

seems like a lot of movies show massive parties outside and that really depends on what the underage enforcement is like. I usually seen the parties kept more indoors because if they see cops they want to close the door and lock it.

Though with football tailgates there was a time where nobody seemed to care and everyone underage was drinking openly until it got cracked down.

There was also a bowling alley/bar right next door to my friends apartment complex and the people at the bar didnt check ID at all if you went through the bowling alley first and then into the bar, so you got like dozens of underage people in there getty sloppy drunk. Eventually those employees got fired and we couldnt go there anymore.

One time we were driving around campus area, and one of the girls with me said she had to pee. I spotted a big house party right then, and pulled over. She went for the bathroom, we went for the keg. Stayed for a couple hours. We knew "Brian," but dammit where did he go?

The problem with the general extreme drunken antics and debauchery with US college parties is because the legal drinking age is still 21, which is completely ridiculous. Kids are not taught that alcohol should be consumed in moderation, etc etc. They're taught that booze is this mystical substance and its only purpose is to get you plastered at parties. It's like this thing that hangs over your head that you just end up doing suddenly without warming yourself up to it. There's tons of alcohol poisonings on college campuses. It's pretty shocking how irresponsible some teens in the US are with their booze. That's what happens when you pursue this ridiculous abstinence only model rather than actually educating youths.

drunk sloots used to pee outside all the time, several times with different groups of people we formed "pee circles", it had to look ridiculous to passerbys, there would be a circle of drunk college kids facing outward with some drunk sloot in the middle pissing. This would be in the grass or right in the parking lots. They apparently thought if there is a circle of drunk people in the middle of the night blocking the view, it doesnt look suspicious at all and wont garner any attention.

Had lots of friends that would drink until they black out and do it all over again. Most people didnt have classes on Friday so thursday, friday and saturday were party days and if you wanted to get people together on the other days there was still support for it. There was all kinds of stupid chit, I knew people that peed on their roomate when they were blacked out and some sloot that fell off her 3rd floor balcony because she tried to climb from the 3rd floor down to the second like spiderman or some chit, had to get her jaw wired shut but lucky she didnt die. All that behavior was pretty much universally accepted, there wasnt really any negative social pressure to slow down or be more moderate.

That's awful. I live on the border of Ontario and Quebec. In Quebec, the legal drinking age is 18 and alcohol consumption is pretty much a part of our culture. I started drinking with friends at 15. Parents might give their 14 year olds a glass of wine or champagne at a special occasion. Alcohol is not seen as this big taboo thing here that you magically have to wait until you're 'of age' to drink or else something awful happens. In Ontario, their views on alcohol seem to be different. It's not as engrained in the fabric of Ontarian culture as it is in French Canadian culture, so I've seen Ontarian youths getting really fuking wasted due to lack of education, acceptance, and experience.

I brew beer and mead and wine. It's one of my favorite things. When I have children and they inevitably wind up helping me out with the brewing process so that we have an activity we can do together, it's not like I won't let them try the result of our hard work. I think it's also a great way to teach youths that alcohol doesn't consist of just drinking garbage like keystone light until the point of blacking out. Anyways, I digress.

They’re better irl. I always chuckle when I see wild college parties portrayed in movies, because they remind me of the really lame high school parties.

Drunk horny people in their prime blowin off steam. Always thought the atmosphere was universal.

TBH it's pretty close.

Back in the day when I was at university, there was some crazy ass parties.

My brother had one one time before the end of the school year and the party got so outta hand that police helicopters were flying above shining their light telling every one to disperse or you will be arrested, LMAO. It was a great time. Also, at that same party there were a few basketball players (went to Ohio State) who were smashing chicks in a few of my bros roomates rooms which was hilarious too.

This. Similar but more yelling/screaming, slurring, and walking into chit/falling over. If you ever go to one stone cold sober you'll question your life choices.

I'm not sure if it's accurate for everyone or at every school...but I was in a fraternity at a college with a big Greek life presence and a strongly sports-oriented campus culture, and can confirm that at times my life was like a movie. Lot of stories I can tell and they would just sound fake / exaggerated. I have a number of acquaintances who went to school in Europe and I feel sort of bad for them. It was an alternative reality for four years because then you graduate and life becomes way more "normal" (and tbh while it was fun at the time it all just sounds so chaotic and exhausting in my late 20s).

I also have a theory base on the fact that a lot of my fraternity brothers are now either married or in long-term stable relationships...guys just need to get it out of their system and they can be more healthy in their relationships srs.

Reminds me of Project X. One of the best movies ever made.

Only if you're in a fraternity. Then the parties are 10x better than the movies.

Most college parties in the US are in a basement or some chitty, dirty frat house where you're shoulder to shoulder with people (mostly dudes) where everyone is on a quest to black out. Beer pong is usually the main attraction.

college sporting event tailgates are the GOAT, though
